Well, two wheeled terrors it was a blustery weekend in the rolling hills of Flemington New Jersey at HCBMX and State Qualifiers 3 and 4. Massive Matt Danek and his crew of super northern volunteers whipped up HC into killer shape for their turn at the gate. Matt popped up a few pictures on his camera phone to me that he had taken after the rain had blasted the track earlier in the week and it was amazing how much work was done in such a short amount of time to get things back into flying, rolling, jumping shape.

Pt. Pleasant Bikes, Felt, KB were all back to see who were the top teams for the weekend and Chip and Dale’s rolling BMX command center made an appearance as well. Andy has been supporting BMX since about day 2 in NJ and special thanks should be made to someone who lives the sport like himself. Catch the 2-Hip BMX Team down at his shop this summer!

The NJBMX State Series sign up trailer was revitalized for this showdown and Janeen, Nancy and the rest of the Board were making heavy use of it, taking signups, answering questions and keeping us band of BMX crazies from going into race overload!
Enough preliminary mumbo jumbo, people want to hear about some of the racing action.

Before we get into anything about racing, it has to be thrown out there, it must be recognized, the reason we all start doing this radnoodleness is because we love that feeling we get when jumping that bike, and one young gun stood above the rest this weekend and that was the maniac Mike Resz”Crossup”kowski. The 9 expert was SKYING (see the picture) the triples out of the first turn. Every time he was on the gate the whole crowd got up to see this tiny rocket blast into the air. Looking at that young dude started me thinking that we know have 3 schools old, new and future, BMX is going places people and like Mike shows, the skies the limit.

Now on to actual gate dropping and main finishing!

Micro midget maniac racers were trampled by Gabriel “have to love em” Hatem in 5 under rookie. He rolled the first both days and held back the rest of the tiny terrors like, McDonald, Elleto and Bryson. The rad lads of 8 Rookie were flip flopped over the weekend, with Karsten Tribus taking the 1 one day and Jeremy Haney taking the second the next. Kyle Hamblin and Lenny Hicks were rocking the 6 Novice and 8 Novice classes over the weekend, both dads volunteer heavily at their local tracks and both still shred on their scoots! Props to the micro second generation squiddly squadron!

Moving into the near teen groups, well at least the over 3.5 crowd! Massive Matty Cranmer rocked the uno one day and dumped a deuce the other in 8 Expert. Chris Koval also rocked out in that class, following up behind Matt and Cranking Kyle Dulock, 8 Ex is a crazy close class to keep the eyeballs glued on!

Jesse Heft, hefted the first both days caging Austin “Gorilla” Padilla. The first straights in this class are one crazy ride! Erik Robbins slipped back and forth this weekend in 11 Rookie, but it was Josh “Holy Hannah” Haney who smoked the comp this weekend! Looks like the ’07 novice classes are gonna be wild!

What does it mean when you are 2 years younger than everyone else in your class? It means your name is Paul Filippone, yea he’s expert but a 10 year old blasting 12  year olds? Skills lads and lassettes, skills. 1st on Sunday!

15 Rookie had Kraemer and Codis swapping positions over the weekend as well, that seems to be the craziness of the windy land of Hunterdon County!

16 Expert was romped on by Vinnie Man”how does he go so high”nino, shredding both days to finish first. Winning a race and being able to do backflip x-ups means you got the skills to thrill, the next Donny Robinson?

Heather Haugh and Shannon Walsh blasted through HC for the older ladies classes both days, though they are in different classes, they get combined most times, but still shread it out there. Little lasses? Alana Carolan kept the pedal down and got Emilie McMurray both days but big Steve McM is on the training tip and we’ll see what happens in the class later in the year!

Big wheels,¦the cruiser class. Bill “Herniated” Hayden got the first in 35-39 on day one, with Pete “Wogs”  Wohglemuth in the 2 spot. Day 2 saw the return of Chris Lamb. The lambinator, taking the competitive class wire to wire for the win.The old dogs cruiser class was taken by Rumbling Rempkowski on day one but Big Jeff Heath got busy on day 2 after working all day Saturday.

The old dogs class was taken by Ripping Rich Farside, both days beating guys up to 22 years his junior, crazy! The main on day one was pretty ballistic as the battle for the 35+ novice class was getting heated in the last straight rhythms. Wogs and Crazy Craig went down in heap of flames, allowing some 80’s old fart loser to roll around them and claim the class win for the day miracles must happen, but it was no lie that it actually went down..
Grrrrrrrrrrrr, the big guns, the bad boys, the killers the money men. The 16 Over Open class!

Yea daddy, you know these guys were shredding it, it’s not even about who wins, (okay it is for them) it’s about the style for miles that goes on out there. This weekend saw the return of Greg Morgan to the track and the open mains, he pulled in a 5th and 3rd for the weekend, Greg was massive not too long ago, so this may be the return of more Morgan madness! Caveman Kapigian kept his knuckles off the quarry dust long enough on Saturday to take the deuce with Brett Snyder following in behind him, Brett bounced back on Sunday as the Caveman was nowhere to be found. Who won..both days? Back to back with insane wild speed and style Flying Phil Delizia, NJÃ’s one and only. He roasted the comp for MCS and Pt Pleasant bikes both days. Ya never know if Phil is gonna throw big or kick a massive style pull manual to blow your mind with his skills. Riding is one thing, but Phil’s enthusiasm for BMXing off the track speaks loads about the character of “The Jersey Wunderkid” Big things ahead for Phil, let’s hope he stays in NJ. So thats the way it went with the big boys of NJ BMX. Young guys, rookies, never be afraid to say hi or ask for tips from these guys, they were new riders just like you at one point and are stoked on BMX just like you!

That’s a few of the highlights from the weekend. So much action going on in those hills that we scared away the black bears of the Jersey mountains! Yea daddeeos and two thumbs up major to Matt Danek and his crew for giving NJ 2 more fantasical State Races! Next stop is the track in the center. The middle mania of Central Jersey BMX.

See you all in July! Now go shred some trails or something!!!
