it’ll be nice to run ABA in jersey again.
it’s just gonna be nice to have a track up north, i think it makes for better races at large events. when you go to a state race– you should see someone new– not the same dude you are at every local with. more tracks equals people having to travel less to get to locals, making big races more exciting, and making local racing more accessable (sp)– no more “i would like the kids to race, but i’m not drivin 2 hours to do it”good work, look forward to workin with you guys up there
dave
s4lnjMemberit rained all day– at about 5pm the track was a lake– i’m sure that they wont be racing– even if it were not raining, the track is gonna be a mess, and with upcoming national, no need to screw up the track
s4lnjMembernot going near this one
s4lnjMemberant– the only way to get faster is to run with faster guys– that’s why i’m always up riches ass to ride
s4lnjMembertrilogy have anything fun in the fall?
s4lnjMemberrode a little back in the woods at my house today– it was a slush fest– i could only imagime how bad the track was– good call on the cancelation— still plenty of season left
s4lnjMemberwent by this morning– like %70 of track still covered in snow– and kids were sledding down the starting hill and backsides of bug jumps– so they are packed snow– pretty much ice—
dave
s4lnjMemberrodney is right– lets say rod gives a kid a bike, jersey, helmet and some t’s– hes into this kid for lets say
bike $500
jersey $45
helmet $50
t’s$30
about $625 retail.this particular rider needs to bring in at least $625 worth of buyers, before the shop will even start to earn a profit.
not to mention weather or not he’s picking up race fees, time spent making repairs, or buckets of asprin for all the headaches.
all for a cycling discpline, who’s industry sells direct, or sells cheaper through mail order.
small story about dans comp– when jimmy levan started metal bikes, he calls dans–
“hey, i started a bike company called metal, wanna buy 10 frames?”“how many did you get make?”
“75– giving 5 to team members, gonna try to sell 10 to you then ten to frankford bike supply(another mail order–very good), and then some local shops.”
“we’ll buy all 70, but we want them cheap, and we want to be the only people selling them. we will be the sole distr. for metal”
i don’t know if they still run like this– but they would strongarm thier way into everyone’s pockets. metal isn’t the only company that they did this to. i almost never buy from dans, caus ethey killed the bike shops, which is killing the local scene”(racing anyway)

s4lnjMember#3 – you say I am entitled to post and I have the right to have an opinion and then you say my post is stupid – which is it
sorry– just seamed to me that you had an ill advised post– wht you may have heard could be from an un-reliable source. i assumed that you didn’t have any dealings with farside, otherwise there would be no post. there are two sides to every story, and “i heard enough about him” just isn’t concrete enough for you, me, or anyone else to make an educated decision about someone. as far as his posts on here, this is a place to blow off steam, and be a goofball. which is what we are all guilty of. the problem with the internet is that you can’t hear tones or see expressions. i’ve been misunderstood more than a few times.
but you are correct, i was a hypocrit (sp?) with my last statement, i was telling about making shity posts and i made one myself– so i am sorry
dave
s4lnjMemberlol– nah– picked it out of the trash as a parts bike for my daughter
s4lnjMemberinteresting point of view–
not my personal opinion, but you are entitled to it.
where should one begin?
#1– yes things may be getting done– but with un-needed resistance. these things should have been no-braininers, but there were people that were reluctant to do anything. and not just the grant– bike hangers, the grant, blah blah.. and it wasn’t Mr. farside, despite what you may have been told or think.
#2– not sure who you are or who you know, but i’m guessing that you don’t know farsied evry well. because ifyou could spend just a few minutes with him, than you would know that he has been overlly willing to do what ever he could, but keeps running into brick walls with the powers that be.
#3– the site is here so that people can “post stupid stuff” — ie: your entire post
that’s about all i have for now

s4lnjMemberold school jersey guy with good ideas who is ready to shake up the bmx world by starting another sanction. still in the very early stages, long process, but he seams to be ready for it. if i’m not mistaken he may have been one of the original hyper owners. if he can get one track off the ground, and do with it what he plans, then he will turn alot of heads and the shit will hit the fan. i’m rooting for it, wish that there was more i could do to help the guy out.

s4lnjMemberthroughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities  the political, the religious, the educational, theBMX authorities  who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing  forming in our minds  their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable open-mindedness, chaotic, confused vulnerability to inform yourself.
