Heres a good story about th ABA listening to riders.
1997, the first year they had the 28and over Ex class, at the Gold cup that year, Bruce Bischoff 28and over nov, and I go to Clayton, and ask how come no 28 and over class? His reply “because the Gold Cup wasn’t a national, and that class was for nationals only” So I said”but we have more than enough to split it up, and this is alot like a national. We talked back and forth, and Clayton said he’d think about it. I figured that was that, and it wan’t going to happen. Clayton calls me over the radio( I was working for them at the time), and says come up to the trailer. “You know what” he says, “we are gonna do it” He goes on and explains that since the Gold up east one is the first one, we can do it, have the 28 and over for the Gold cup finals. The ABA will listen, cause most of their employees are x riders, or currentRod, hell ain’t bad, its warm, drinks, the whole thing
Rideinlow, uh what have you done? I can say from sitting back, and watching, there are several people involved who shouldn’t be, why? They don’t have kids involved anymore, so what keeps them involved, don’t you think they lose proper perspective fo what needs to be done, because they don’t have a rider in the family telling them what is wrong. This is also a business, and some, who are miserable when questioned about goings on, well, if you aren’t happy with the way your customers are asking questions, Uh you need to go!!!!! I know what have I done lately, not much, but last conversationat the state race with Matt D, was that I was going to start helping down there again, unfortunately due to health probs, nd being in and out of the hospital, I really hven’t been worried about BMX. as far as Deb, you always need people questioning what is going on, check and balances!!!!!!!!!!

This is exactlly the problem I have tried to explain all along, with NBL being non-profit, they must get rid of the money they make. Meaning, there is no real incentive for growth as long as they break even pay their bills. What they do do, which seems to perpetuate the love affair that some tracks have . Is give back money to those tracks, however spending the money in a huge add campaign, and really recruiting riders has a downfall for them. WHAT TO DO WITH THE NEW INCOME? As long as Bob and company continue to break even, you will not see any trully mind shattering marketing ideas. The Disney thing was very outside the box
