I like your first proposal, and here is why, it gives the track incentive to make itself better, rather than a popularity contest as to who gets it!
It’s a shame it comes down to this, but if its not done like this, the lurkers will have time to come up with reasons why something won’t work, rather than giving it a shot

It is a big deal, and here is why, the younger riders look up to people, (older, faster riders, in BMX), now if they see someone they want to emeulate, it keeps them interested. Now Brett raced enough of the series that he qulaified, he was one of the people lining up on the gate, in a race that generally had all the riders attention. Now no plate because of an accident, at which point I don’t think the plate was on his mind. However earlier in the day they awarded Greg Morgan a plaque for all of his BMX accomplishments, most of which were when he was 13-17. So how is it that a guy races a series, has a crash, and can’t get anything, but something you do 8 years ago will get you something? Something to think about.
After thinking aboout the money thing Rich, it may be largely in part to the fact, that as a result of things like “the 10,000 flyers”, the “Hyper Pro-Am”, they may have in fact increased revenue, giving them the ability to spend more. So thanks are in order to you guys 🙂

Yep, it was WWBMA, the last track director was a guy named chip, and his right hand was my brother. Chris wasn’t old enough to drive, so Chip would pick him up in the morning on race day and take him. My parents didn’t want to do the BMX anymore. If I felt like it I would cuise down there too. The last day they raced (it was the last day because of events that unfolded), I didn’t feel like racing I had the jumps next to the house to ride. There was a shoot out at the park the track was in, and Chip just said that was it.
