You mean like say 16 and over race consisting of all the #1s (maybe #2) in each class? That would be cool.

Hmmm…anyone want to brainstorm what we would talk about at a HC track meeting? Let er rip!

Brett, you may be on to something…key paragraph from the article:

“So many people associated with bicycle motocross automatically jump to the conclusion that we need more tracks. I think a legitimate argument can be made that, for the moment, at least, there are already enough. There is almost constant discussion of low moto counts around the nation. What we could really use, eh, is more riders. In the 80’s … formal race tracks popped up everywhere. There were probably more than a dozen tracks in Wisconsin in the hay-days of BMX. But, as more tracks popped up … the informal riding areas went away. When the first crop of racers got old enough to get their licenses and moved on to other activities (sure do wish I had just stayed on the bike!), the fresh crop of “sandlot” kids wasn’t there to replace them. “

Track meetings? We don’t need no stinking track meetings!

Seriously though, that is something that has been lacking at our track. Sounds like a good idea though. I will see if I can put something together. I have heard some good ideas from a few riders concerning a decision maker and a pro section. A track meeting would be a good way to get the ball rolling and see if we can make it happen.

Ok, here’s the deal, at least as far as I know it…

the last straight has been brought up to grade. I know this has been a painfully slow process, but in reality there is probably 4+ feet of dirt added to the entire straight. At this point it is just flat.

We also worked on the big double on the 4th straight and hollowed out the center and re shaped it a bit. The two small “speed bumps” right out of the 3rd turn are much bigger and the step up going into that turn is now a bit longer and more shaped out.

There is not a whole lot we can do right now with shovels and rakes!

BTW, Flemington 3, machines 0…as in so far the skid steer has broken both days, and Sunday the backhoe broke 2 hydraulic arms…and you thought HC was easy!!!

As for next work day, possibly next Sunday. Matt will be there Wednesday for practice, BUG HIM!!!

Brett, this is awesome! If we have time on Saturday, I would really like you to show me how you have this set up at CJ. Is it on a timer so it runs automatically? See you Sat

in reply to: The 2006 State Series Fully Explained… #32984

Last year there was certainly some problems, but frankly, I don’t find this years state series all that difficult to figure out.

To throw something new into the mix, IF we end up with 2 new ABA tracks in the state, is there anything saying we couldnt include them in the state series? I imagine this is WAY out of the box, but why not?

As for Regional/National, the Regional series should be for most of us chumps who want more than the state series, but are not going to travel all over the country. The National series should be for what I would consider ‘national level’ riders, ie experts and pros, but this is a whole other rant.

    Janeen, thanks. Nuff said.

in reply to: Northeast regional championship #32901

getting info on this race is like finding out national security secrets! I am planning on going there with the wife and kids and tenting…anyone who has been there, can you tell me if there are showers available? Restrooms (other than port o potties)? Food? And, how the hell do you sign up for the regional?? I see everything for the National, but no regional championship stuff. Can I assume that if you are just going to race the championship, you only need to race Saturday?

    Thanks, in advance.
