The reason I would like to see the State Championship held at a later date include all the reasons Brett mentioned, including more time for locals, spread out the qualifiers, but most importantly, the races after the grands and regional would be worth going to. The way it stands now, the races after the regional count towards track points only. They are throw aways. It would greatly extend the season and allow you to actually miss a race and still have your 10 locals.

The only reason to have it early would be for the points, which you could easily make up by going to a regional/national pre-race. Besides, like I stated earlier, we are the ONLY state in the region to do it early.

BTW, I believe track reps are usually Track Director and one other. Along with an alternate. HC is Matt Danek (obviously) and myself. Not sure if there are actually qualifications to be a track rep.

I am not going to give names, but those in charge of the state series seemed to think it was more trouble than it was worth to have people pre reg. I was arguing for making pre-reg $5 less to encourage people to use it. I figured it would easier…unsaid person(s) did not agree. nuff said.

The primary reason I have heard for back to back qualifiers was that it is easier to get volunteers. Not saying I agree with that, just what I have heard. That being said, I think it is stupid! However, its also hard to fit them in seperately when the championship is in August.

Anyone know when other states in the NE hold their championship?

Wow, big thread! A couple things…
I cant see any reason Pottstown would be a bad idea. None. If HC cant survive without the few riders, then it must DIE! (just kidding!).

The new Asst State Commish was not “installed”…it was more or less “who is qualified and would want it”. Vinnie did not. I am not qualified and did not want it. So, this is who was left, qualified or not.

As for flyers, we (that means us, hopefully with the blessing/support of the board and tracks) need to come up with a way to coordinate this as a state. More importantly, the powers that be at each track need to coordinate this for each track. I was not at the HC meeting. I could guess who the new director is, and from the comments here, it doesnt look good for promotion. HOWEVER, we as HC local riders need to convince this person that it will work and how we are going to do it. Like I said earlier…what could they possibly sue us for? We have nothing!

One more thing… isnt there some creative way we could have a triple point state race in August and the championship race later? Theres gotta be a way to get around it. What are they gonna do, kick NJ out of the NBL???
