Sabre came out around 1980 and died quickly. Is it the one that had aerodynamic bottom that stuck out?
If so I’d hold on to that, one of the rarest plates out there I bet. Hardly anyone used them even back then, most went with Haros or Hot Plates or their stock ABA plate. Sabres were about as common as CAM plates.

I was just talking over dinner tonight with an old school freind and I’m thinking BMXL will ban clips. At first I thought that would leave out alot of new riders when it occured to me as Ive been spending tons of hours thinking the whole sanction thru, that almost all new riders get bikes that dont have clips.

So depending on feedback from other potential owners Im pretty sure BMXL will ban clips.

Ant if you have trouble balancing you should practice balancing off the track.
In fact do it between motos by pulling your bike up to a car tire and trying to balance on flat surface. Its harder to balance on flat ground do this every race and between motos. In just a few weeks you will balance like a pro.

Also practice balancing sitting down. You can never get a solid start until your balance is solid. Once you can balance for like ever without touching down your good to go.

To further help your start do some lil things.
Flex your fingers on the grips to help you relax. Alot of riders choke the bars the to death. Relax. Also take a deep breath on the gate and breathe out.
Remind yourself its just a race and it aint no big deal.

Finally your ready to slam the gate down. Dont wait for it to fall, make sure you move your hips forward and up before the gate drops.

If your constantly then clipping the gate you can make one of two adjustments or a combination of both. 1. leave a split second later and/or 2. lower your forward pedal one click. If still clipping try lowering it another click.

One other area you can adjust is your body position. But again never make extreme changes. Your body should be centered over your bike/seat. You will notice some riders that lean way back over the rear tire and still get a great start. Well they developed a good start from a bad habit. Dont copy, center your body.

Practice makes perfect. Even if you cant race but can make it to the track do some gates.
Be careful not to wear yourself out on race day doing gates.

Is that Justin Shepard for CW?

I know one guy thats had enough whining about what BMX has become and is starting a sanction to return BMX to its roots. http://www.bmxl.org

I’m putting together a proposal for a BMX legend if he approves we are then meeting with an investor. If the Investor comes onboard we are going to apporach a Media group to put on a TV event under BMXL.

If all that fails Im still gonna try to get this going as a grass roots and buy some land in North Carolina and start a track and go from there. Any help or input is appreciated by using our forums.

Very cool Ant. maybe you can help him start up a team and a BMX Track next to the Edison Skatepark. That would really help his sales out.
Email him this link or print it out and give it to him.

NJ = Speed trap capital of the world.
When visitng my sister and dad in May, my Brother in Law got mad cause I wouldnt speed to keep up with him. Then that night I got pulled over for “speeding”. One of the Rt. 130 speed traps. Lucky the cop was cool and only wrote me up for having a illegal lisence plate frame. (It wasnt illegal but I didnt want to argue with him since he wasnt writing me up for what he pulled me over for.)

Its weird my sister now lives 10 minutes from Howell (a track I raced back in 79 or 80) and home to many of you knobby haired old men..

I just talked today to a freind whos daughter got 4th both days (was in 2nd both days but the altitude got to her by the mains).
He said the facility will be amazing when its done.
It was far from done, but looking good. He also told me it was listed as “Indoor” somewhere and lol its definately not. He froze only taking shorts with him as it was in the 30s and 40s. The track just has a roof over it.

    Cant watch it 🙁

Windows Media Player cannot connect to the server. The server name might not be correct, the server might not be available, or your proxy settings might not be correct.

    Cost of track

Albuquerque’s new BMX racing track should be finished in Oct. The $4.2M track could become an Olympic training site. The track is part of a $10M complex that is supposed to include a velodrome track.

Brett try the City of Vineland.
    http://www.vinelandcity.org/resources/contact.htm
They still have the park and the space for the track is still undeveloped.
With the Olympics coming up I think they would be very receptive.
Take with you an ABA info kit so you can cover there worries about insurance etc. Look for the links and info on this page

Each track they help launch would bring them new membership 🙂
    http://www.njbikeracing.com

Finally take the men stepping up BIG in NJ to bring BMX to every corner of the state to stand up and be counted.
Have them list their city and the counties in their area.
Then they contact counties in their area and everyone has a region to cover.

You can post their initials or name over each county to see whos covering what area. (More than one can cover a area)

in reply to: NJB.M.X Theme song #35794

I hate rap, but that song works great. Good pick ant.
    “Go hard or go home.
    Whats it gonna be
    Go hard or go home
    and watch TV.”

Lots of other good lyrics about going for number one and crossing the line first and dont give up etc. Nothing offensive about the song, good choice.

Im not sure what my choice would be but porbably 90s alternative.

I loved the look of the Bell Moto 3. Then came out those Premier Full face helmets.
I also was a rebel and went with the old Pro-Tec. it may have not looked cool, but it was light, you could hear the gate starter better and it had ventelation so you didnt overheat.

How about the old JT Rockgaurds. Jeff Kosmala was the man with his on.
This shot shows the Pros using a Bell Moto 3, JT Rockgaurd and Meno full face

in reply to: Google old tracks #35745

I went thru all my old flyers yesterday.

Millville in one of them just said “sorry we are forced to close the track before the regular season ends- therefore the State Championships are being moved to Lawrenceville”
Im sure a city lease or issue came up maybe a lawsuit.

Lawrenceville I remember Marty said he couldnt put up Lights cause the neighbors behind the track thru the woods were complaining. Maybe that was it or the PBA (Police Benevolant Association) lease on the spot ended.

Flemington just moved to the Hunterdon location.

Vineland I heard rumors of mismanagement.

Woodbury Im sure closed when it moved to Deptford, hrmm ill do a google search for that old track now.

Ok is this were the Woodbury track was? just above the “Fairway Court” street off Salem Ave? My memory fails me.
