Answer forks are optional. Super light carbon-fiber.
I’m running an almost stock 2004 Redline Flight 24 that I picked up on ebay from a guy in Staten Island. It was almost new. I changed the bars and neck and tires. All stock otherwise. Rides nice.
Also, I didn’t go clipless yet, I’m not crazy enough to go there yet. Plenty of new 9/16 pedals out there like the old Shimano’s we used to ride.
What’s up with the body armor? Is this mandatory??
CrazyCraigMemberI dunno dude, most of them just have the street and dirt stuff. I have been doing mail order with Dan’s Comp (look online) and also buying on Ebay. So far so good. I also get some parts from Mark Zalewski, his family owned TNT and he was a fast 17x-er in 1989 that I chased in the NBL.
Also, according to Rich Farside, with the new paved turns, he recommended Maxxis Holy Roller tires, at least at Egg Harbor. I ordered mine direct from Maxxis. I also have Maxxis Max Daddy’s to practice on the trails with (kind of like an IRC tread)
FYI: I have a blue Haro aluminum SX24 Frame w/ GT fork, with headset, seat, seat post, seat clamp, stem & brakes, pedals, I might even be willing to part with some new rims I got too. The HARO has an euro bottom bracket, so just need to pick up some Flights, etc. with a Euro BB, not the american.
What I don’t have: bars (at least not the right size, unless you like 4.5″ rise on a 4″ headtube), a brake cable, and maybe a brake lever, but I’ll look, I might have one laying around. I might have a chain, but I recommend getting new. You’ll also need a rear freewheel. You can get the chain & bars from Mark Zalewski (the TNT bars are solid – he has 5″ and 7″ rise)
So yeah, I have almost a whole other bike, and I am working on two other prjects as well, so my basement has exploded with parts.
CrazyCraigMemberMy daughter turned 2 yesterday!
I also have a 5yr old son. I’m 38 (but don’t feel it!). My dad had a 17yr old at 38 (plus 2 more). How the heck he did that is beyond me. Hope to get the 5yr old off of training wheels soon and on the track.
CrazyCraigMemberAre you serious??? 🙄
I’m going back to the old days here, but thought 20’s and 24’s weren’t allowed to mingle.
Just in the 30 & over, or the 16 & over too??? (Not that I got the lung capacity just yet to take them all on)
CrazyCraigMemberIf you decide to set up a link section for charities, I will qualify any charities I submit to you.
I am not going to go looking for them all, but rather hope that anyone out there that knows about them will submit the link to you via PM to put in that section.
CrazyCraigMemberIf someone has a XL or XXL 20incher to loan me, I’ll consider racing the Open too. As of now I only have the Cruiser.
Somebody has to chase ya Rich! 😯
CrazyCraigMemberGo for it Adam!
CrazyCraigMemberI really miss those “Coast the Coast” MS Rides. They were cool. If I recall, I was the only one who finished, but that was only because your knee screamed at you too much down the stretch. I did it again the following year after I met Christine, she thought I was nuts at the time to do 170 miles in two days!
Pat’s on the right track here folks. Many different charities have walks and rides, so go find one that feels good to support, and get in shape at the same time!!!
Brett, as we start finding the links, maybe you can set up another section in the “links” section for all the legit charities, at least the ones with walks & rides. Whaddya think?
CrazyCraigMember….ahh, that’s how it works. Y’know, I used to post at OS BMX, but laid off for awhile and I remember that they had a similiar rating system.
But…I will tell ya, both Taft & Wogs paid their dues. The way ya hear Kmart tell it, me & Pete were track celebs doing BMX Jerry Springer-style. 😯
Brett, can you burn copies of Joe Kid?
CrazyCraigMemberOkay Brett, little by little yer getting yer wish, the old gang poppin up here & there. I’m sure not everyone stayed in NJ, but hopefully this will keep going.
No Kmart, I don’t think there’ll be a throw down anytime soon, but don’t be surprised if you see Pete on a bike, though he said time is tight, and like me, he’s got some little ones.
Pete, make sure you post some pics. I am going to dig up the mother loaD soon and find all the old shots from ’83. I found the one of us at the ’83 East Coast Nats with you, John Keyes, me, Linea Hasegawa, and Sergei Hasegawa with that big a** trophy he won. I have some definte ’80’s hair in that one.
CrazyCraigMember…and Wogs, when I came back full bore in ’88 I finally muscled up a little and got smooth on a bike, so for one year in ’89 I didn’t grunt much. 😯
CrazyCraigMemberIt will be interesting to see who pops up here.[/quote]
Kmart, check out my “introduce y’self” posts. Look who popped up!
CrazyCraigMemberThe mystery guest has been unveiled, and only because I guessed right on the second try.
If you read my bio, I gave good props to this guy, but ripped him a little in a post under Kmart’s intro. So, yeah, I look like a sh*t right now.
But, no one raced harder than this guy. I truly wish we could have stayed an age class apart the whole time. We started out as friends and he will admit that I got him to his first race. We did some great road trips in ’84.
Actually, it’s because his older brother got a Schwinn Predator cruiser that made me try cruiser class. I’ll never forget going around Braddock on that stock Schwinn.
Brett, if you haven’t figured out who I’m talking about, first you better drop that rookie rating and upgrade Dunrite9 to NJ Vet. Yup, it’s my old nemesis, and hopefully friend once more.
Everyone say hello to Wogs. One of the best East Coast racers BITD.
CrazyCraigMemberOkay, I’m finding out that Dunrite9 is not Mike Dunn and hopefully the mystery guest will sign in soon!
CrazyCraigMemberI just lost 10 lbs, but still closer to 250 than 200, so yeah, I definitely grunt when I ride!!
Don’t think that will ever change!!
Dude, yer freaking me out!!
