Pete – it was a tire tube and a Star Ledger Newspaper bag. Serious. No BS. Whatever worked, right? Those rides to Scavones were a haul. It made the trip to High Gear in Sterling seem like nothing. I keep forgetting that you and I go all the way back to ’83 before I had a license. We did a lotta crazy rides didn’t we? And would you believe earlier tonight I rode my cruiser 10.5 miles to Dover to pick my van up at the dealer? That aint easy on a single speed!

But, on a sadder note, you answered a question Kmart & me had about Gibby. Sorry to hear about his dad.

We got a nice thread about Braddock going here. Lets keep it going.

Hey, here’s one: who remembers the girl that used to participate in the jumping contests at Braddock with us? I think her name was Meredith, right? Black uniform, blonde hair.

Scavones!! Yer right Kenny, she did ride for them, I’m pretty sure at least.

Me and some of the guys would ride from Morristown to Scavones in Belleville, on our 20’s! What a haul!

xracer, who are you? Did I race you BITD? Thanks for the team roster on Thruster, I could not remember all the names, but raced a lot of you guys. If I recall, Brad Dalbec’s sister, Darcy(?) was on the team too, wasn’t she?

Dunrite – nice photo. I didn’t know you raced NBL in ’85. Cool. I dropped out of racing after breaking my foot in the spring. Nice shot of you on the cruiser. 🙂

Yeah, I remember Shupack, there are pics of him in the book that has me on the cover.

    Who was Salami?

no, Mental did not ride for Thruster. I was referring to the fact that on any given day, especially the big races at Braddock, several Factory Thruster guys would show up: Chris _____, Franco Perrino, etc.

Mental should have been sponsored, but back then “jumpers” didn’t really garner factory support. I gotta believe he’s digging the stuff they do on the X-Games and wishin he was younger!

I believe Mental’s first name was Tony, but I cannot think of his last.

Yup, I remember him. One of his buds was Elvis _____ (cant remember the last name).

I raced Mental in 17x back in 1984. That 17x class was tough. Dave Campbell, Sal Echel, Billy Sargeant, half the Thruster team, etc…

…and I was one of those guys that used to do the jumping after the races too. That was fun.

    You know it is!!

The one and only thing I hate about posts and email is you’ll never hear the vocal inflection or emotion of the person writing. So just know that I’m having as much fun as you and yes, it’s all good!! Just having fun throwing it back & forth. Call it “verbal elbows” Ha-ha. 😆

I can’t believe we used to ride our 20’s to Stirling! Of course you lived closer than I did Pete, but it was still a haul!

I’m running 180’s now( came stock with the Flight 24), but may scope out a pair of 185’s at some point.

Well Kmart – yer getting your wish. Wogs aint even on a bike yet and the trash talk has started. 🙂

Nah, it’s all good. Me and Pete went at it good during the few months we would be in the same class before I had a b-day. I’d say we both won our fair share of races. Dang, I really do miss those days. 🙁

Wogs, if you recall for awhile there I had a gate snap super dialed in on my cruiser. I don’t remember losing too many races at Braddock on that bike when I was dialed in…and I have the photos to prove it. 😉

You saw the “It Works” just as much as I saw “Wogs”. Man those were great days!

Wog – I can’t believe you posted a photo of you butt with your name on it. Too bad I don’t have my old JT’s with “It Works” on the back. But, the screen aint big enough for that. 😯
