Update on the old tape case from 1984 – 1985:

Do you know what the average wage is in Venezuela? 42 cents is a lot down there.
We just have WAAAAAAAAY to much tax levied on our gas. We actually produce enough within the borders of the continental US to live on, but we sell over half our oil. They defend it by saying we help stabilize prices worldwide.
A big chunk is the refining costs – our unions negotiate much higher pay here then what they pay folks in other countries to refine the stuff. Plus, BIG OIL has to keep the stock holders happy by turning BIG PROFITS.
We have a free market economy, but it has its good and bad parts that we have all obviously decided to live with.
If you go back through history – did you know it was the middle class that was at the center of almost every revolution?
So, once the middle class gets fed up enough, we’ll have a revolution. The poor aint got the money and the rich (well, most of them) are okay either way.
Any one gotta a couple of billion to throw at a revolution? 😉
I had that “Number of the Beast” tape in my ’74 Pontiac Ventura (think Nova) back in the mid ’80s.
I am not a metal head by any stretch but that tape got played so much it finally broke.
I almost ashamed to admit it shared a tape case with Huey Lewis and the News, but I tried to keep Ratt between them with R.E.M. on the side (had their first EP on tape). 😛
Kmart – there are not enough Ashtabula parts to go around to make a class. 😀
But – I’m all for no clip racing.

The arm is battered and I gotta a helluva bruise on my thigh. Not sure if I will be there this week but hope I will be there the weekend after.
My goal is to drop at least another 15 pounds and be competitive by the Nats the end of April.
so after seeing LeadSled’s numbers – if we bitch to the NBL – they’ll defend the current policy and use these numbers to show how they are growing better than the ABA because of a bigger beginner / rookie class.
They’ll say its good for the sport, but as we all know, only at the national level.
So – do we have to have a pre-rookie class at the local level????? Its all about operating income right? The more newbies we get on the track, the better the local operating income, right???
First thing: Rodney and Ant – chill out – we’re all on the same side here, right? 😕
I rode with no clips on Saturday at EHT – and got left in the dust – somehow didn’t come in last in my main. So ‘Sled is right, you need them to compete until they are banned.
But – I am totally down with a no clip race – I may even build up an old Redline PL24 with the 6″ headtube for just such an occasion…and may even put 1 piece cranks on it! 😉
The proverbial “can of worms” has been opened, so what’s next?

Folks – about half way through Saturday I was asking myself what am I doing here and how come I didn’t buy a mountain bike instead. By the end of the day that thought dissappeared and as sore as I was this morning, I could think of nothing else but getting back on my bike and figuring out what I need to do in order to catch the guys in my class and maybe even get back on a 20.
It’s not how many times you fall but how many times you get back up that makes you successful. 8)

Do you know how bad I wanted that third place trophy??? (…and it took me several races to get it.)
Do you know how bad I wanted out of that class when I found out you wouldn’t get anything else? I wanted to be in 14 novice sooooo bad after that first winter.

I’m with Brett here folks for sure. I mean no disrespect to a certain 9 Rookie rider from CT, but it scared the poop out of me when this kid’s dad told me his kid has a 6 POUND BIKE!!! With CLIPS!!! WHAT?!?!?!?
If you want to get the local moto counts up, you have to make it easy to get a kid on the track. Instead of a 1 month trial membership, make it a 1 weekend or two week, or make it “X” amount of races on a temp pass up to 3 months and give the kid a race card to get punched. This way it gives the kid a few more tries to get back to the track on the temp membership. Not every parent can drop everything and bring his kid down 4 weeks in a row to get their money’s worth. Keep it cheap but give it some value.
Also – “no clips allowed” for rookies. Come on – if your kid is good enough to ride with clips, he DOES not belong in rookie. Sorry. BITD we helped push the kids up the table top if they needed help, and they LOVED it.
Farside’s moto-x race gave me another idea: How much would it cost to have 8-10 entry level bikes at the track to be rented?? Rent them for $5-10 bucks a day, but make sure a parent signs for it with a valid credit card. I know this is not a perfect idea because how do you make sure you have bikes for every age and size rider, but its an idea and maybe this will inspire someone else to think of a better idea.
That’s my thoughts for now.
I’m the guy who was off the track for 16 years as per Janeen’s post. I took a nasty fall in practice – I’m hurtin’ today – but I had a blast and didn’t come in last, though that would not have mattered. I even brought my 14 yr old niece to the track who got to ride on the Moto-X bike race thanks to Rich Farside. She had a blast too!
I could not get over the amount of old faces I saw and spoke to but made alot of new friends as well.

Does the guy in the wheelchair tell everyone there shouldn’t be a prom because he can’t dance? But we can’t have a king & queen because there is one neutral gender person at the prom??? Ya gotta be kidding me here folks.
Folks, this is not about being homophobic. Honest. I have Mrs. & Mrs. Smith (not real name) as neighbors who I think are terrific. This is about just plain stupidity and a total attack on the norms of society.
You take mom and dad out of the picture and this place is going to hell real quick.
