I have only run the two qualifiers on 20″ plus the regional, but my membership for 20 is still pending at the NBL. I emailed Points@NBL.org the other day because a race was missing on cruiser, and they said they didn’t have my 20 membership yet, but they admitted being 3-4 weeks behind on races and other stuff, as it was they had yet to post the points fron the first qualifier at EHT.

So I assume Pete & me will show up in the points once our memberships are complete.

I must being doing something right if Janeen is bagging on me! 😀

I took a 1st and a 4th for the day Saturday and Janeen put them together and told me I got 14th for the day. 😉

No RVs were hurt in the making of this post.

I don’t recall ever crashing into his RV ( 😯 ) but am glad to say I knew Bob BITD.

He truly was the ultimate BMX advocate. My memory of him was anytime I showed up at an NBL race in Jersey in the late 80’s, he had a full race uniform on and ready to go, all the while helping put on the race that day.

Here is my 5 cents on the subject (I used to charge 2 cents, but the price of oil pushed that up 😀 )

I was thinking about why have many towns/counties embraced skate parks and not BMX parks?

Answer: no one complains about BMXers (for the most part).

When I was single and still riding my BMX bike around town in my early 20’s, the big uproar was about all the skateboarders tearing up the town. Ordinances were passed banning public skateboarding in a lot of places around Morristown and the surrounding area. Us BMX’ers had more places to ride freely, where as most boarders stuck to local public spots to thrash. Plus, most of our jumps were in the woods where no one really saw us. Out of sight, out of mind.

I’m not saying that your idea won’t work, just know that I don’t think towns see BMXers as a nuisance like they did boarders. We all know in politics the squeaky wheel gets the oil, right?

That said, I have been slowly making friends with a former councilman in our town who really seems to care about the kids and has helped with alot of the other sports programs. He plans on re-running for the council after giving up his seat to run for mayor last year. I’ll update you on that if anything progresses.

I understand where you are going with this Brett, and that is to show people that this is a valid sport that is worthy of their attention and another good outlet for kids and families. We have an uphill battle because of the lack of marketing expertise in the past that has kept alot of BMX out of the mainstream spotlight, at least as far as promoting it as a legitimate sport to the masses.

I just saw Greg’s post about the clinic.

Y’all realize that Brett is probably in a state of euphoric shock right now.

    “Greg??…..Greg Hill?!?!………..has posted!?!?……on,on,on,on………..my site?!?!?”

Brett probably couldn’t even go to work today. 😆

If you see the list fill up but wish you could attend, I recommend you still email/contact Rich in case anyone cancels. Lets not let this opportunity slip away. How often will we get a chance to have Greg Hill in NJ?

Thank you Rich for bringing one of your fellow legends to Jersey to put on what I am sure will be a superb clinic.

Is there a track ph# that can be called first thing in the morning? I live up north, and am picking someone up out west, and then heading down. I need to leave my house at 6am to accomplish this and get there at a reasonable time.

You said they will usually make a decision at 7am – but I will be on the rode by that point – so a phone number to call would be very helpful.

    Thanks!

Ya just gotta love the folks on this site. Loren posts a simple public service announcement and it turns into a roast (of me!).

But…Brett & Bill – I’m impressed – you beat Caveman to the funny stuff! 😀

The good news is I am fully recovered from the slam. See you tomorrow at EHT and next week at HC!
