as of right now I’m still heading to Woodbridge, and not P-burgh. That could still change, we’ll see.
CrazyCraigMemberDaaaaaang – I just read through all 4 pages of that stuff. Some people have waaaaaay too much time on their hands. Still, some very funny stuff.
After reading one of Jess’s posts, I’m almost feeling ashamed to be riding in the Nov class again. But, I still feel I need a little more work before I move up. However, I raced without my chest protector the last two races, but will bring it if I head down to Jess’ track in Delaware!
CrazyCraigMemberOriginally I was planning on hitting the Woodbridge, Virginia Nat, but some family plans might change, and I might head out there and stay home next weekend. I will know more by tomorrow.
CrazyCraigMemberJust like last time, kids & church schedule will dictate, but I plan to race both days, so we’ll see. Put me down has a definite maybe.
CrazyCraigMemberI will sincerely try to get an early jump out of work to get on down there and help!
CrazyCraigMemberI’m with you there Jess! I am looking forward to the NBL Grands and 2007 as well!

Stuff like that and the movie RAD, did more to make the sport look bad, and give a misconception of what the sport or now sports, as the discipilines, have developed into their own, are really about
I am in total agreement there Bill. I remember seeing Rad at the Rockaway Mall Outer Cinema hoping to see something that would legitimize what we do, and almost wanted to yell out loud to the rest of the audience “this is not BMX!!!” (I did hear the riders really enjoyed coming down that monster starting hill! -((but where’s the gate??)).
But, I do own a copy of Rad (and BMX Bandits) – it does make for a really good laugh. I recently got Joe Kid on a Stingray to “balance” out the collection. Sorry, no hard core stuff besides that
Adam – it’s okay to be in BMX for selfish reasons and totally into your own thing if that is what makes you happy. Thats cool. I guess as a dad, and a fairly “mainstream” type at that, I try to always be the promoter of the positive aspects. Nothing wrong with that, right?
CrazyCraigMemberC’mon guys – that commercial was made 20 years ago. At the time I’m sure most people thought it was pretty cool. Remember, they were making a soda commercial, not a BMX commercial.
So yeah, it was pretty lame, but so was the movie Rad. Still, if nothing else, it made you laugh, right?
This was pretty good exposure for BMX back then. With the Dew Action Tour, I would love to see the commercial they could come up with now if they truly put their minds to it.
CrazyCraigMemberAhhh…young grasshopper. You have chosen a new path to enlightenment. It is written that when the student is ready, the teacher shall appear.
Well, I aint your teacher, but I’ll guarantee you this: when you get your new ride on the track, we’ll take you to school!! Argh!
Ya know I’m just having fun Ant. Good luck with the new scoot!
CrazyCraigMemberTonight:
3 sets of 12 sit-ups (kept the kids off me), 5 minutes of good stretching, and then 3 sets of 10 plyo-jumps. The last 3-4 jumps on the last set were not easy, but good entertainment for the kiddies. They seem to think its funny watching daddy gut it out.
Before I did my jumps, my wife (who’s in decent shape and goes to the gym semi-regularly) decided to see what the big deal was about these “jumps”. Once I showed her the correct way, she barely managed 3. Heh-heh, kicked her butt, heh-heh.
Seriously, she now totally appreciates what I am shooting for.
Oh, and you gotta see my 2 year old stretching and jumping with me. It’s a riot!!

training sucks.. just ride your damn bikes
He’s right, training does suck, but like Jess said, so does losing. 3 days after training with Greg Hill (the first time I have ever officially trained), I felt 10 times faster, and somehow managed to endure a double header last Tuesday at EHT racing 35-39 Cruiser AND 35+ Nov (with Farside in some of those races). I raced 13 times in 2-1/2 hours.
I definitely like the results that training brings, and it gets me on my “damn bike” more because now I’m accountable to it. Jess will confer that its not easy with a family, but worth it.
Training is like most rewarding things in life: if it were easy, everyone would be doing it.
CrazyCraigMemberYesterday morning:
5 minutes stretching, 10 crunches (need to start doing those when the kids are not around)
Last night (with full gear including helmet):
Rode 3/4 mile to parking lot to do sprints. 20 sprints – about 20yds. Gut started to feel it around #15 – last 5 were tough.
Rode 1.25 mile to Pathmark on errand for wife. Then rode 2 miles back with multiple small uphills. Constant pedalaling, no breaks.
Got home – did 3 sets of the plyometric jumps – 3, 5 & last set did 7.
CrazyCraigMemberAdam,
I do not think this section should be removed, but I wish there was a way that when a new topic is posted, it does not show up on the front page of the site in the upper right hand corner.
I have been jumping and riding bikes since I was 5 years old. That is 33 years. So I have seen it all (well, almost). I am totally cool with most of the conversations going on here, even when it’s on (and over) the edge a little.
But…I am also a Dad, and the dad part thinks would I want my kids reading some of this stuff. Put yourself in my shoes.
So free speech is cool, and I think we all need to unwind and have a place to just BS, but don’t neccessarily need to put it out there where everyone sees it, but only because this site could really become THE place for EVERYONE to come and learn about BMX in Jersey and maybe beyond. Unfortunately, a little PC is needed if you want to try and keep the appeal universal to everyone in the best interests of the sport.
Keep the section: Yes.
Figure out a way to limit access: Yes
Kill free speech: No – but, we have to allow Brett, and only Brett, the right to delete a post no matter how pissed we might get, especially if its not in the BS section but somewhere that has full public access. I don’t want to make Brett the policeman, but there has to be some level of civility, and thats how you control it.CrazyCraigMemberPete – too bad you couldn’t come to EHT for the Double-header last night! It was fun!
CrazyCraigMemberHe’s alive, he’s alive!!!
Thanks for chiming in Dave. Track aint the same without ya.
