Okay, someone send this to Bob T. and the gang. Better yet, send it to Brett, he’ll get right on it! 😀
That is an AWESOME site. Talk about getting your poop together early. Unbelievable.
So who plans on going to the Worlds next year?? I guess I better get rocking and work towards breaking into the Expert class sometime soon!

Broke my nose at Melody
I bailed in one of my first 15X races there. Slipped a pedal over the first small jump at the bottom of the first straight (downhill). No pads, got water-on-the-knee. It blew up to the size of a softball. Still, I think the pads we did have back then would not have helped much.
CrazyCraigMemberwhat time does it start Dave?
CrazyCraigMemberAnt –
I have been fortunate enough to race at all three NJ tracks this year, and we have been seeing more of this. Janeen even started a thread about one of the little dudes who recently gave his all just to get around the track in 5 rookie.
My son is 5, and he hasn’t raced yet, but has been on EHT and CJ. At first he gets scared of all the big hills, and is afraid he is going to blast into the air like the big dudes but then fall. But once he gets around that track a few times and gets his belief up, he gets SO excited because he did it himself without stopping.
Looking forward to seeing you out there with your nephews. I don’t have much, but I have a couple of spare parts for the smaller bikes (how old are they?). Let me know if you need help with anything. Once you start helping a new rider Ant, you will start to notice the other new riders out there as well.
I have to thank Colin Hamblin for helping my son at CJ after the qualifier. He took a sincere interest in helping my kid, although at first he did not believe my son was “only” 5. Colin actually put his own bike down and stopped praticing in order to help my son get over the jumps in the 4th and 5th straights at CJ. He showed maturity way beyond his age. Thanks for the help Colin, it meant a lot to me and my son!
CrazyCraigMemberI raced Lake Melody on Sunday’s after we raced Braddock in the morning/early afternoon. I remember diving into the second turn “bowl”. The speed going through that was awesome!
In ’82 there were actually a couple of more tracks besides the one on the list. My first 14 Novice race was at Waretown on Rt. 9 (my first race was 14 beginner at the Armory). They made the track out of the local “dirt”: sand and beach pebbles! Anytime it rained, half the track dissappeared!
Someone should look for the 82 list as well.
CrazyCraigMemberTwenty 50yd sprints last night. #11 kicked my butt. I got back on it with #12, but then the last three were tough. First time I did 50 yarders.
With family issues, work, AND racing Tues & Sat., keeping a training schedule has been tough, but Richie Rich is helping me get it back on track. We have set some goals for two big races (Trumbull & the Grands), so we are going to incorporate the locals into the schedule. Pump laps & gates will be priority on Tuesday nights.
Twenty 75 Yarders are on the schedule for today, not to mention the vert leaps!
CrazyCraigMemberLast Tuesday was the first time I did full legit pump laps. I got four in before the lights got turned off (after Tues nite racing). My hammys were sore for three days.
The one thing I dont get to do is gate practice. Flemington is an hour away and I have to make sure work & and family stay in balance and Wednesday nites are usually my late night working. I have been racing twice a week the last few weeks, so one more night is hard to justify. EHT is 135 miles away, so that is REALLY hard to justify. But, I got my sprints in last night, more to follow today.
CrazyCraigMemberNow this is funny:
CrazyCraigMemberWhen ya moving?
I have made plans for the Grands, but as of now I have a room booked and hoping to make a family trip out of it. If that changes, then I’m all for camping out again.
CrazyCraigMemberBTW: For those who were not there or did not see my whole 35+ Nov main, I did try making a pass in a turn with my foot down.
Gotta love old school, right? It was worth a shot, I did not have a good line otherwise.
Oh, and if Wog is reading this: my grunt came back this weekend. Third moto of 35 Nov, I was leading, but cased a front tire a little, and had to push it hard to hold my position. Even the anoouncer heard me and made a comment. I was doing all I could to provide the entertainment this weekend.
CrazyCraigMemberUnclipped: Pistol Pete, no contest.
But, hard to compare, because its two different eras.
If you took Bubba, unclipped him, and could transport him back in time to a Pro main in 86, he’d get crushed. Today’s style of racing is different.
If you bring Pete from 86 to a Pro Main now, and clip him in, he’d have to contend with the more technical tracks. He might not get crushed, but hard to pull the same types of moves from BITD.
But, we’ll never know. will we?
CrazyCraigMemberThey were able to run the Regional today. The weather was actually good racing weather. It cooled off, the humidity wasn’t bad, and we didn’t get any thunder until the third motos, but it never rained. They did a good job with the track, although it was still soft, but not as bad as yesterday. It stayed in the mid 70’s up there all day.
I apologize that I cannot report on Jersey results cause I dont know all the names, but I saw some happy NJ campers leave with some first places not to mention all the other riders who did well.
CrazyCraigMemberNew Paltz ran 1-1/2 motos today and then it got called due to rain.
Somewhat puzzling though. It rained there in the morning, and they knew more was in the forecast. The start of practice was delayed till about 9am, and they ran an open practice, alternating between 13 & under and 14 & over.
But… they decided it was best to push back race time till 12, instead of running short practice and starting on time at 11. With all due respect to the operators, cause I have never done your job, I still feel this was bad judgment. Knowing T-storms were in the forecast, an 11am start would have been prudent. We might have gotten the race in.
I’m heading back tomorrow, the forecast is better, but I am only able to cause I got my mom to watch the kids while my wife is at church.
CrazyCraigMemberI’ll be there on Saturday!
CrazyCraigMembergot my recovery ride in yesterday, plus a 15 minute chair massage and a visit to my chiropractor. Feeling good today, except the hammys are a little sore from the 4 (yes, only 4) pump laps I did after the races Tuesday.
On Rich’s advice, resting today, but will get in some ab work, he said thats okay as long as I dont over do it. I think I can get to New Paltz for practice tomorrow, come back, and then head up Saturday to race (track is only 75 miles from my house – EHT is 135, so this is no big deal)
