    shoulda been there.

ps: started as a rider disagreement, then grew from there.

This started over by the starting hill between an older (>20) and younger (<15?) rider after something happened on the track between the two. Then the younger kid's dad stepped in.

A lot of he said / she said stuff and I ended up stepping in between to try and get one of them to walk away. I thought at any moment I was gonna get knocked in the head. I had to go get my kid and thats when they took it by registration and the cr*p continued by Janeen.

It could have very well been a scene from “dad’s gone bad at Little League”. Not pretty. The adults involved need to realize just how bad they look when this is happening.

I totally agree, as long as we can laugh about it after the race. 😀

Racing is racing, that is why we keep coming back.

I will admit to riding outside my abilities a couple of times, but its usually me who gets hurt. Knock on wood, I haven’t taken a tumble since South Park. I am also guilty of pushing the envelope on nights where I was not the fastest out there, or maybe not coming out of the gate like I’d want to. Like I said to the guy who called me out, this is RACING, we race the whole track, and lets race to win as long as we dont intentionally do something to hurt the other rider.

My fifth race back, the second day of the nat at EHT, I was on the bubble in the semi getting passed in the last turn (I was running out of gas). Someone who we all respect very much came up to me and said you gotta do whatever you have to in order to make the main. I had the inside line and should have rode the guy out to the edge of the turn to see if he would back down, but I did not, and he got around. He was not in position for a hi-low, and I would have been “just protecting my line”. Thats racing, and when its been done to me, I respect it and try to learn from it.

All we need is Shupac to to show up and throw a couple of elbows and then reclassify back to Novice! 😆 (Braddock riders will get the joke)

Thanks Brett, I appreciate it, and you are right, next year we’ll have a kicking 30+ Expert class. Chasing Rich has been good for me. Maybe if I clip in I’ll stay closer, we’ll see. 🙄

Brett, I’ll try and remember the idea we came up with to bring my camcorder to Trumbull and have someone get tape on the Rumble in Trumbull 35+ Novice motos & main. It should be fun!!

Janeen, from what I can see, you are the rare person who is capable of taking on all this stuff and getting it all done. Unfortunately, there are always going to be people that only hear what they want to hear and just never seem to (or want to) understand that you have better things to do than take their cr*p. (No Paul, I am not referring to you, you’re cool bro.)

I wish there was someway we could get word out to every rider and parent in the state that if THEY know a better way, then hey – Volunteer!! Or attend a state meeting, etc. That is why I don’t b*tch (about much 😀 ), because I have limited time to volunteer due to my distance from the tracks.

Paul, I am not bagging on you. But, regarding the regional, I think it is technically an NBL event, not a state or local event, so that should have at least raised the question sooner. I hope to see you at the Championship, so come on down to EHT on the 15th, there are usually a few of us on most nights to make a class!

The original thread over at BMX News got locked after the last 10 posts were all Jersey guys. I thought it was rather bogus the moderator told us to “take this cr*p over to NJBMX or myspace”.

I wanted to comment on something there, but will post here as all but one of the people commenting on my proficiency status are local to this site.

To clear up any and all confusion: After the 89 State Series I moved up to Superclass in the NBL and stopped racing ABA where I had finished the year as a 17+ Expert (I was 22 at the time). I raced a couple of regionals and 1 nat in Superclass before spending too much time with my girlfirend and not enough on my bike. I just kind of fell out of it.

If I were to sign up in the ABA I would have to start in Expert. But in the NBL I had the option to start anywhere I wanted. Not a bad thing really is it? Now If I sign up in the ABA, at least I’ll be ready.

I have pride, but also like to feel competitive. Even though some folks think it was not proper to start in Nov (considering I am doing well there NOW), based on where my skills were at I felt this was the best place to jump back in. I also do not have a problem with being a Nov because I am not clipped in.

If I really had my sights set on being #1 NAG, I would have gone to more nats and regionals. I do not know what next year will bring, but if I continue on my current course, you bet I will move up to expert. I cant let Brett have all the fun, can I? 😀

Some of you will still have a problem with me riding Nov through Woodward. But, if I bust out at the Grands, then I may consider moving up right after, or right after Woodward. We’ll see. Considering where I was in March of this year, I feel pretty good about what I have done.

I am not looking to be a career novice as I know its important to move up to set an example. I guess I just did not want to be motofill in expert and felt Nov would keep me within my abilities and not push it farther than I was ready to.

    Okay?

    Cool. 8)

I have been out to do sprints several times this past week, mostly at night. I can also do three sets of 10 Vert leaps without feeling like I gotta hurl. I did those twice this last week. Time to step those up.

I raced EHT tonight. Had to chase an 18x all night and didn’t relax just cause there were only two 35+ Novs. It made for some good training as I only rode class tonight. Afterwards I did 4 pump laps. I am starting to manual without trying over some jumps, and had fun stylin the second straight. I’m finally feeling much more comfortable on the 20″. The only problem is when I get on the cruiser it feels like a bus after all the work on the 20″.

recovery ride tomorrow, some sprints Thursday and then off to Trumbull for the weekend. I will only race 20 there as well, I have my 5 nats in on cruiser.

Let me guess: Wog’s back yard in Long Valley? 😀

No matter what, Morris County would be awesome, but you’d expect that from me considering where I live. You know me and the Smiths would help out anyway we can!

Good to hear from you! Thats great that Nikota got his first 1st! Thats awesome.

Looking forward to seeing you back in Jersey at the grands. Are you and the crew gonna camp out in Kentucky? Not sure if the wife and kids will make the trip. If they do, I got a room already, if not, I’m up for camping out. Let me know.
