Makes you wish Hal Needham would have kept it real, he might have actually made more money on the movie!

About the only thing worse he could have done was put his friend Burt Reynolds in the lead role, and don’t think the thought didn’t cross his mind!

If you need me to run your motos at the grands, I’ll handle that for ya. 🙂

He was gonna ask me but wasn’t sure if I would stay straight out of the gate. 😀 (inside joke). Oh, thanks Rich for getting Jud in on it Saturday (not!).

Seriously – As I said in a previous post, and the same as everyone else here, if you need ANYTHING, let us know, we will try our best to make it happen.

You more than anyone gave me something to shoot for (and chase!!) and inspiration to motivate myself to a level I would not have dreamed about 6 months ago.

If Taylor needs help at the races and you can’t make the trip, you know we’ll all watch out for her and help in anyway we can.

    Get well soon.

Just felt the need to publically thank Rich Carolan who has been helping me set up my training and then reviewing the progress. I have not always stuck perfectly to plan (usually due to family time conflicts) but were getting there slowly but surely.

I raced Trumbull this past weekend but only on 20″. For the first time at a big race I went total ballzout every moto because I was not concerned with saving it for cruiser. All the sprints & pump laps paid off cause I pulled 1-2-2-2 and 2-1-1-1 this weekend. Every moto was all out, no easy ones or free-passes. A couple even came down to the finish line and yet I was never “gassed” after any motos. I was able to recover and go back fresh every moto and go ballzout again.

    Thanks Rich!

Brett should have gotten the lead role in the movie. He could so out-act that dude, and he would not have needed three stunt doubles (except for maybe the successful back-flip). 😀

Word has it he busted up 7 ribs. I do not know if he is still in the hopsital.

Rich – let us know if you need help with any thing. I hope you heal fast. Keep us posted.

Well guys & gals, the dude who called me out online was not there today, but some other fast 35 Novs were including the other guy I raced in New Paltz.

Anyone ever hear of a guy named Kent Gordy? This guy is #8 in National Points in 40-44 Cruiser, and decided to get back on a 20. The dude is FAST. Clipped in and running 45-16.

I went 1-2-2-2 for the day. All three motos & the main were exciting. A lot of moves and passes – we were definitely not a follow-the-leader moto. It was fun! Taking that first moto felt great.

I’m heading back up there tomorrow. Gotta go get 5 hours of sleep now!

It was in his very first 35+ Expert moto. He was 2 motos ahead of me, so I saw the crash.

Rich was in second right behind O’Gorman. Hard to know exactly what happen, but it appeared he overcleared a jump, landed flat, and cut to his left to hold it. I think it was London Wilmot right behind him who caught his back tire or something. Rich’s bike stopped, but he didn’t and took a full hard body slam into the lip of the next jump. Not pretty.

I DO NOT have this confirmed, but third party info relayed to me said he did leave in the ambulance and possibly has several cracked/broken ribs. After about 10 minutes, he did walk off the track slowly, but with the help of two other people. I saw him sitting in the EMT hut for sometime, so I assume he made the decision to get further medical help.

The weather for this weekend in Trumbull:

78 degrees, only 44% humidity, 0% chance of rain.

Its gonna be a cool dry weekend. Racing should be fast & furious!!!!

aren’t points what you can pay to lower your interest rate?

…or to raise my bank account. 😉

To be honest, I don’t play it that way, but I know companies and loan officers that do.

Dave, I have been using the races to work on my skills. You learn a lot when you are chasing a guy 20 years younger than you! (18x’ers)

Keep doing those pump laps. What I am finding as I do more pump laps is its getting harder to keep the bike down over certain parts of EHT and its forcing me to learn manuals. I actually manualled the jump coming out of turn two very smoothly one time Tuesday night without trying. For me this a major advancement. I only rolled/pumped it in one moto and manualled the other two times.

Still, sprints wouldn’t be a bad thing. Being faster can make up for the lack of some skills. Keep up the good work!

I figured I would jump in and add to this list:

Yesterday I did verticle leap jumps..

set 1 = 45lbs dumbbells just did 10 squats (no jump) for warm up.

sets 2-5 = 45lbs dumbbells 20 reps each with 4 minutes rest between sets.

Legs are coming back to life…

    GH

4 sets of 20 with 45lb dumbbells?? 😯 Boy, I got a loooong way to go!!

FYI: I didn’t ride ANY bike for 10 years, and back racing for the first time after 16 years. Greg, your seminar / clinic definitely has made a HUGE difference, and Richie Rich has been coaching me the last few weeks. No, he has not advised shaving, but he has me working hard!

I turn 39 next week and since January went from 256 to 230 while dropping 4 inches off my waist. After the clinic my overall weight has not changed but I have been putting on muscle from the work. I need to step it up with the goal being to get closer to 200.

LOL, tell ya what though, I wouldn’t trade all those memories of Braddock for anything.
I like it that your actually making these guys realize that it’s cool to want to move up and not sweat the “I wanna be Nat. #1 novice thing”.

I would love to be NAG #1 in Novice, but only if it happened this year. So right now I have one goal, and that is win the main at the Grands. That would be almost the same to me, and probably feel even better.

There is no way I could stay Nov through 2007 unless I do some SERIOUS sandbagging. I already have 7 or 8 move up points. But, we all know that is the problem. Career Novs & Rookies milking it. And we have already beat that topic to death in at least 10 other threads.

But lets beat it to death some more:

If I stay novice, how am I going to get better? Last night I chased two 18x’s around the track. Guess what? It C-H-A-L-L-E-N-G-E-D me. Yo folks, to many y’all think its “challenging” to figure out how you can get your kid #1 NAG in Nov or Rookie after he took top 5 last year. If your kids looks up to guys like Phil & Rich, guess what? They didn’t get there by luck!! And they have only one goal, to be the absolute best they can be against the very best riders on the planet! Period!

Okay, off my soap box. Wilson out.
