I went to the NBL site and the “race your age” as of 12/31/07 only effects Championship classes (Elite), not the Challenge classes.

I previously posted the Toms River track was on Hooper Ave. It was actually at the top of Fischer Blvd just before Hooper Ave.

If you go to the NBL site (http://www.nbl.org) and click on “Regionals” it gives the correct schedule for the weekend.

c’mon guys, stop the argument okay. I think what BMX901 means is from what everyone can see it should be pretty obvious who (meaning a certain group) is probably doing this.

I am trying to be a referee here, not taking sides. I live 135 miles away from EHT but do care about it since it was technically my home track this year if you go by number of races I did there (more at EHT than CJ & HC combined).

My one major complaint about forums is you can not hear voice inflection so you never truly know the other person’s full intent when they wrote their post. We all try to infer the meaning and then arguments start. No, I am not expecting everyone to be nicey-nicey here, but if ya gotta beef with someone, pm them and try and have a conversation off line.

If we all work together we stand a better chance of stopping the vandalism at EHT. Its a public park, so its impossible to completely stop it, but lets keep trying.

Chris, I know you said the town blames it on the track and some residents would love to find an excuse to replace it, but do you think its worth some publicity? I know when stuff like this happens to any other public place in my area, I usually see a photo with a caption and maybe even a short story in my local paper to help bring awareness to the problem. If the right picture is painted, hopefully more residents will keep their eyes open.

But, lets all agree, its gotta be someone or a group with relative proximity to the track.

But Chris, one other thing you said makes me wonder: you’re saying the wires to the starting hill are “hot” all the time? There is no switch to turn that off? If so, then as you said, whoever cut it either got shocked and might have needed a trip to a hospital, or someone had the proper insulated tools. How clean was the “cut”? Just curious.

Ya know Jess, I just realized that too, and I was actually looking forward to possibly racing opens at some point. But if its gonna be 16+ at Nats, thats gonna be crazy!

I’m in Rich, you know that.

My goal was winning the main at the Grands, and boy did I come close. But, for some reason I am having trubs keeping my starts consistent through a whole weekend, so I am all for Greg coming back. BMX Underground got a pic of my main coming over the tabletop in the first straight. I am in the middle of the pack, but my first straight pull improved so much I was able to dive into the turn with more speed and come out second. I need more help to put the complete package together to do battle in 35X next year (I may just focus on the 20″, we’ll see)

I came home with a banged up shoulder and leg, both on the right side, so I am just getting back on the bike as it is, but hope in a week to be ready enough for Woodward.

Not going to the ABA Grands, but I know if I make the trip next month to Delaware for the East Coast Nats (ABA), my novice days are over. So I know I got my work cut out for me.

Thinking about a new frame Rich. I love the DB, but maybe thinking going XXL 22″ TT. Formula maybe? What’s Felt got? You seem to do just fine on yours. Let me know.

Mac – I have raced both, and I have liked both for different reasons. I have not raced ABA yet this year, and I will admit, I am guilty of sowing some ABA seeds, and you are right, changing sanctions wont solve anything short term, rider counts are the most important. But, in the long run, alot of changes, or at least improvements are needed so once we get these new riders, they don’t fall into the same traps or get turned off by the crap we are all complaining about.

You are right, it would be a knee-jerk reaction, but what you are seeing is alot of vets who were there when this was BIG and are frustrated. So we are going to spout off a little, and ultimately we hope to bring change. The good part of all of this is that we ARE frustrated, and though not everything we say on here is the solution, its getting people to think and getting people involved. I’m sure I am not the only person who is happy you came on here and posted your feelings and opinions, because its one more view we need to consider, and maybe you’ll help us keep some cooler heads. Thanks for being involved.

At a race as big as the Grands, the main should be the tie breaker no doubt, and in the case where the one rider didn’t make the main and still got #1 (at least in Jess’ hypothetical case), that really blows!

But, you are always going to have the dissenting opinion that “my son or daughter got a bad break and was wrecked by another rider, so it’s okay he got #1 with his points, even though he didn’t win or make the main.”

Take the point off the motos, put them on the main, and see what happens. Oh wait, the ABA already does this! Duh!

All Rich had to do was register and touch the gate each moto for last place points. I know he knows that but obviously chose not to do that. He put all his chips on Cruiser that weekend. The rules are clearly posted about needing to be at the Grands to qualify. If Rich decided he could not race at all and stayed home, he still would have had to register and show the NBL proof of an injury that prevented him from racing and they would have credited him for being there but no points would be given. I know this because I had a lengthy discussion with a gal at the NBL trailer in Trumbull.

I know it stinks that he dropped that far in the standings, but the reason they have the rules is so you go to the Grands to get your plate. The rolling ATM as Brett calls it. I’m not defending it, just stating the facts as they are right now.

When I got my #46 Plate for 35-39 Cruiser at the Grands, I was having fun saying to everyone “You wanna see what $55 looks like?” and then show them my #46 (actually $280 if you count all 5 Nats). And at the Nat level half the time I was MotoFill on cruiser. I moved up 13 spots and yet I went 5-6-5 in motos, but I know its because 13 people didn’t show up or moved up to 40-44 that weekend.

That my $.02 on the subject.
