Ya know T-done, I talked the same way after having my first beer, too. Hopefully the second beer goes down a little better, lol.
And I know you know I am just bustin, trying to bring a little humor into the thread, tone it down a little, inject some Prozac, etc, lol.
Can we all just get along?
And Tommy, things aint as bad as they sound. If they were, the tracks would be gone by now. There are some good people trying to make things happen, just gotta keep the faith bro.
Come on out to Flemington on Oct.6 for the championship. The Pro/Am will be rocking.
CrazyCraigMemberI guess you can say you are “a cut above the rest”, lol.
Only a mechanic would find this cool. Or at least only guys. Chicks don’t understand this, lol.
Glad you didn’t lose a finger there Dave. And as a former car dealership employee, I totally understand the $$$$ motivation to keep working on a money job.
CrazyCraigMemberLast night was my first night on the random gate. I will admit that I thought it would be a piece of cake based on how I do my starts. Well, it wasn’t. It takes time to adjust to having that delay.
Jeffrey Heath, Jr. and I had the pleasure of doing gate practice with Geraldo Echavarria last night after racing at CJ (my apology if I spelled your name wrong). It took both me and Jeff awhile, but we finally got used to it. I took a 15 minute break and watched Geraldo a few times, and when I got back up for one last gate it finally clicked.
Here is what I feel the key is: you just have to relax. You have to block the starters cadence out because its no longer part of the timing. Just be ready for the beeps, but like I said, r-e-l-a-x. Once I started to relax, it clicked.
Have fun!
CrazyCraigMemberY’know, there was a time last year when everyone came here to BrokenSpokes to stay on top of things, find out about reg & race times, etc. This became THE place for BMX News & Info in NJ and was getting more views than NJBMX.org. It seemed everyone liked going to one place to get the news and everything else this site provides.
Now here we are a year later, and all of a sudden every post and thread gets a negative spin put on it or in it at some point.
Guys and gals, I know many of you are fed up with certain things, but making additional negative comments is now becoming counter-productive, especially when someone is trying to promote an upcoming race and hopefully get the word out to more people so no one can say “how come I didn’t know about that”.
Lets get real folks: do you or do you not want to see BMX Racing grow again? Whether or not you actually want to participate is up to you. But please, if you do not like something, don’t bash it in a thread that was nothing more than an informational post to help people. Take it down to the General BS section.
I really though that this site was helping create a positive vibe in the sport, but now it seems to have devolved into everyone’s personal b*tching forum.
I ask the question again: Do you or do you not want to see this sport continue to grow?
Its up to you.
CrazyCraigMemberAmen.
CrazyCraigMemberHere is the deal Adam – there are folks on here that like to have fun, cause trouble, mess with folks, etc, but for the most part know when to stop and/or when they are crossing the line. In the end, most of us know who each other are and if it ever came down to it, we would not be afraid to meet in person to hash it out, and at the very very least we would agree to dissagree, right?
But when lurkers come on here with only one intention, and that is to tear down, cause trouble, cross the line and even comment on personal things they have no right to comment on, let alone sufficient knowledge of the situation they are referring to, then that is just not needed.
Yes, every point needs a counter point. But the latest round of BS is just utterly ridiculous. Totally counterproductive. I know the recent trouble makers (maybe just one person under many screen names?) are obviously from the track (I know, duh!). As far as I am concerned, if they hide behind screen names then they are two-faced, un-trusting individuals that should not be involved running a kids sport, or anything else for that matter. If I have gone too far in this statement, I will gladly apologize in person if they want to have that discussion. But until they engage me in honest conversation and want to have an adult conversation, I don’t know how else to look at it.
If I am wrong, please enlighten me.

Once again, AM I PERFECT?
Riddle me this Lazy Craig. What does these 2 things have in common???????
Hmmm…lets see. 1st is a bike, which you obviously don’t know how to ride, or you’d be on the gate with me.
Second…hmmm…the trash can must stand for trash talkin, cause thats about all your doing right now.
As to your real reference, do you have the cajones to come talk to me personally about this? If not, shut up.
And Wannabee, I guess what I am saying is lets see what the paying customers have to say about how they feel about things right now. I bet that would open some eyes for sure. Or are you afraid of that???
CrazyCraigMemberClick on the pic on the bottom that says “pratice track pics”
CrazyCraigMemberThank you all.
I will say this, wannabee has a cool avatar! One of the best ones on the site for sure! (and I am being serious)

Here is where you insert foot in mouth
Now the question is should I go there????Seems like he (kamikaze) really has nothing worthwhile to say. This is where you can ignore him Craig.
I hear ya Pinky. I will not even dignify that comment with a direct reponse to him or her because it will just be someone’s twisted view and distorted information. They’ll take something I typed and twist it.
Once again, AM I PERFECT? No. But I like to think my positives outweigh my bad points (which I know I have several, as we all do). If the lurkers want to keep trying to tear everyone down for everything little thing they think someone did wrong and forget to focus on the things they did right, then they for sure will kill BMX in NJ.
This is where people just don’t seem to see the bigger picture. I did not come back to this sport with any intention of making a difference or getting involved, just wanted to see if I could do it again, and maybe lose some weight, get in shape, etc. Along the way I have gotten somewhat involved and in ways I am good at. Have I ruffled some feathers, maybe. Do I make everyone happy, probably not. But has anything been done with bad intentions? No.
But when the lurkers come on here and start trouble, then that is nothing but BAD INTENTIONS which ultimately will do one thing: hurt the kids and the sport. Period.
Good night.
CrazyCraigMember$5 per race for points only = $30 plus gas & food. The NBL aint gonna get rich off of that.
CrazyCraigMemberHappy belated b-day Christine!
CrazyCraigMemberYes Ant, I hijacked the thread, but at least kept it relative.
JBRP, love the 2 inch slick, forgot about those. I’ll pass on the stick shift though. Had one as a kid, not fun when you fall on it.
I gotta say that this has merit, and I truly believe Ant is the guy to make it happen. Why? Because he spends time talking with folks out there on the message boards that are interested. He has asked for their opinions (ie: the customers) and is now trying to develop the “product” to suit demand. Will it be a success? I don’t know. Can it be a success? Yes.
I know what Ant is aiming for here: a TRUE old school series on genuine Old School bikes. Anything pre-1990 I assume. Back when we all had 1″ headtubes, stems that had the bolt-n-wedge holding them in, no clips & Comp IIIs.
The idea is to have this series planned out in advance and possibly running at the state races (right Ant?). This way the folks that might come out for this will have plenty of advanced notice and hopefully provide a good turnout.
Anthony is not just trying to create another class for all of us, but to get the guys that have not come back to the track to dust off their rides and come out for the day, show off their bike, and putter around the track, although I’m sure there will be a few who will get on it. Hopefully these old school dudes have kids now, and will bring them, and we will show this sport to a few more people.
Its all about growing the sport and having fun, right?
And if you think this is a crazy idea, go check out a minor league sporting event and see all the whacky stuff they do to keep folks coming out to the game.
CrazyCraigMemberNow this is some funny sh*t!
Bill, thats exactly what I am saying. All this bullshit is trying to tear the positive stuff down. And I’m not beating up Brett for his postings, he is just tellin it like it is.
And to answer the question, yes, I do race. Never said I was the best. But I think I have had my share of successful days at the track. Really does not matter what you think as long as I walk away that day knowing I gave it 100%, even on the days where I might not have it all together. I don’t train like Farside, so give me a break, I’m a 40yr old having fun on a 20″ bike. Dang.
What I would like to see from the peanut gallery is something constructive. They seem to know it all, so maybe they can actually chime in with something positive that will help grow this sport.
Personally, when I see all this bullsh*t, it shows me that alot of people really do not care about the kids. If you genuinely cared about them, you would be focused on working with EVERYONE to continue to grow this sport. Whether you are a fan of Brett or Ant, or not, you can not deny the fact that both are using the skills they have to the best of their abilities. Are they perfect, NO! Are you? But they are trying, and I think the majority of the folks in the state see that.
You want balls? Here is the ultimate test: lets hand out a questionnaire to every racer and family in the state asking them how they feel about NJBMX, the tracks, racing, etc. Lets see what the customers think? I will draft a letter and post it here to show its fair.
Deal???
CrazyCraigMemberMust be old enough to have ridden a pre-1975 Schwinn StingRay at some point in your life.
Bike must be a Huffy or Schwinn.
No helmets
Flat rubber pedals with no grips
Single bolt goosenecks
banana seats
bolt-on Evel Kneivel gas tank optional
Oh, playing cards in the spokes held onto the frame with a clothes pin is a must.
Is this too old school for everyone?? —
