I like the idea of having the state qualifiers spread out instead of double header weekends. If you really put some thought into this, we can make it work.

Also, I am in favor of pushing back the state championships. I remember being at the Grands talking with folks and they could not believe we already had our State Championship race in AUGUST?????

If we can have a Fall Classic, Vet Day race and Ironman late in the season, why cant our state champ race be in October? It will give more people a chance to get 10 good locals in as per the rules, and make it easier to spread out the qualifiers, thus giving more people the opportunity to make it to every track at least once, maybe twice. Personally, I prefer having every state qualifier on a Saturday, and by spreading them out, you can accomodate that. This way CJ doesn’t have to shut down on Sundays for the other qualifiers, EHT can promote an extra Saturday night race for after both Saturday qualifiers at CJ and maybe Pottstown could promote a Saturday night race after Flemington’s two Saturday qualifiers and vice versa, etc. Make friggin EVENTS out of them, tie them together, cross promote, come on!!!!!

I remember Lake Melody BMX made it a point to talk it up at Braddock so we would all go there for a late afternoon race after Braddock in the AM. Or you’d go to Clayton after Deptford. You made a friggin DAY of it, and had a blast!

Like many on this site I built, jumped, crashed, broke, and built again so many 20″ early wannabe BMX bikes back in the ’70s. “Junk Day” was shopping day for bikes as far as I was concerned.

For me it was natural evolution: I needed to find parts that did not break. I can’t be the only guy here who bought the cheap V-Bars at Two Guys Dept. Store, can I? But the old goose necks started snapping, so my dad and I went in search of the “Holy Grail”, a stem that would not break and also hold. 3 or 4 stems and several bike shops later I had my first Mongoose Gold Stem….then some KKT Pedals….and then some Tuff Wheels (with coaster brake!). At the bike shop they had those cool posters on the wall of BMX Racers doing something on a bike: roosting a turn, doing a kick-out, etc… Helmets with goggles and mouth guards, stylish uniforms, and lo and behold, A NUMBER PLATE! I think thats what did it for me. I was not even racing yet when I got my first plate and put #22 on it (don’t know why, but it looked cool). Got a BMX Action Mag and wow, this was what I wanted to do. Screw little league. (I had one overlap year)

The rest is history as they say.

If the house has the room, its better, but I know Dale has a kid, and I’m sure some expletives are gonna fly from time to time.

What, no local Hooters? (like we would really get any work done there. lol)

Would prefer Dale’s if the kids aren’t there (for their sake), we can all chip in for pizza. If not, I’m cool with Applebees, just call ahead and see if you can book some back corner tables with the ugly waitress so we don’t have any distractions. I want Caveman to be able to focus. lol

I’ll be there on Dec. 10th and Jan 20th.

Alot of the folks on here are old school. How far back in time do you wanna go? Got my first ‘Goose in June 1981 and was racing that winter. Had a Mongoose Goldstem, KKTs and Tuff’s 2 years before that. Go look in NJ Racing Veterans or in Introduce Yo’self, and you’ll find alot of us there, not to mention the OS freestylers hanging out here as well. And Brian P and his BMX collection? It doesn’t get anymore Old School than that.

$20 is reasonable, I think, but I would expect folks to pay more for the pro-am than the regualr entry fees for any given event.

Gotta get sponsors to Pony up some $$$.

not anymore…the last ones I think crossed the line a little. Even if its in the General BS section, I really think the comments from both are not needed here. Its not the face we need to put on this sport, and hard to believe since both profess to want what’s best for BMX in Jersey.

Sorry guys, but thats how I feel.

depending on the length of the series, etc, as per a previous post, I (as in Craig Wilson / Starwin Mortgage Services) might be willing to pony up some, and I’m sure its just a matter of talking it up with other potential sponsors.

(Hint, hint – refer me lots of customers, and I can pony up more!)

As far as the postions, you should pick amongst yourselves, and I can’t be one of them because I will be living over the line, and according to the bylaws I can’t, and I don’t want to be a hipocrit!!

Clarify “living over the line”. Are you moving out of state?

I dont want to hijack this thread, just curious.

I see your point on getting called out online. I never thought about the whole “in front of the kids” stuff, but I usually save the adult conversations for after when most of the parents and kids have left, and then get into it with that person or persons. Except for the actual races, I try not to get too fired up during an event.

    Bill,

I think the reason we need to have the meeting on the 10th is to get our poop together as a group. I am sorry I didn’t back ya up on the Janeen thing, but I am not sure if an online forum is the place to do that, and like Brett said, what matters most is moving forward from here.

YES, I do agree with you on how things have played out. But Brett also said that Mr. Fillipone was probably elected illegally, and at a meeting no one knew about. By rights Rich or you or Carolan or Brett should be asst commish. So maybe we can effect that in Jan.

I think we all agree that we want to walk into the as-yet-to-be-scheduled Jan meeting and just tear the place apart, but I believe change takes time. Last year was the first year for this group. I think many in charge dont believe we will all be around next year. And if you drop out now, you are just proving them right. I think they all feel a bunch of us came back, got fired up, but it wont last. And yeah, not everyone will stick with it for a variety of reasons, but I think as Brett said that if the core of this group holds its ground and shows up in Jan, they will see we are serious and not going anywhere, and hopefully they will see all we want is to re-energize this sport and move it forward.

Everyone on this forum was there in the 80’s. We may never get back to those days. But like a new friend of mine said, we gotta stop thinking about those days and focus on now, 2007, and the new memories we can create.

When I say BICYCLE motocross to people (and I emphasize the word BYCYCLE), they look at me and say “oh, motorcycles, thats cool…”

But, I know that is because their brain is only picking up the word Motocross which they hear alot on TV.

2pm could work as long as my wife only sings 10:30 that day.
