As a matter of fact, that is a permanent facility that apparently cost seven figures that was just finished. Before Saturdays race, the mayor of Albequerqe was there for the presentation. It’s a big deal.

Did that band get sued for that?

Well, I won’t tell Hal Needham if you don’t.

By the way I really like that song and it is definitely going in the rotation at the races.

Those guys are coming to Hackensack on the 4th then they’re going on tour with the Goo Goo Dolls.

Now where can we get some groupies like that at the races??????

Rock! Hopefully the track will dry out in time. Who’s gonna announce for me when I’m racing? Or do I have to clip the mike in my helmet and announce my own moto?

Total ripoff. The guy even looked like Bill Allen. And where did they get the Tony Spencer look-a-like in the Fox jersey? Too awesome!

    Long live Rad!

Tim, you sat down after realizing you had nothing left for the Caveman. 😛 And just so you can’t use the sleep excuse this time, I won’t sleep from now till the race! I’ll be in a coma and I’ll still holeshot you! Hell, I’ll MAIL in my performance and it will still beat you!

    You’re so done 😈

That’s what we DON’T need. We talk smack but when people take a hobby that personally, you know they have issues. Leave the firearms to the high school basketball fans, the pee-wee football parents.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to find a fat guy that’s good with a pipe.

Timmy, you were pullin me in that shot. In fact you pulled me twice on the last straight that day but I remember I beat you overall. Yes I did. And I’ll beat you at the Veteran’s Day race and I’ll beat you all next year. Bring it!

You know, we could do this, we could have a superclass at the qualifiers next year. There’s seven of us locals and you could entice some guys that are close enough like Kelley, Albright, and McGuire. Make it superclass, not 16 + over open.
Then you do it just like a national. Superclass is up first complete with music and introductions. Of course a good PA system like I’m hoping we can afford would be necessary to do it right.
And I’m down with three mains. That’s the way pro should be.

Then all we need is someone with a pipe to whack Phil in the knees, Tonya Harding style and we’ve got ourselves a competitive race. With the added publicity that brings, people will be lining the fences to watch each race. If that’s not enough controversy, I’m willing to take steroids if it will help NJ BMX.

But seriously, we could and should do this.

    t’aint the Caveman.

THIS is what the Caveman looks like when he’s losing:

Ray Hudson’s a big boy. As you can see, I lost that battle.

Tim, am I still gonna be your hero after I launch you off the first turn? You’re on the list now too, mr. 😆

Four of those six pros live in Philly but I consider that local. Speaking of which I forgot Bob Whipple. Seven.

Mike Savage! Can I get a hell yeah?! He’s my hero. Anybody that gets a BMXA cover is a g-d icon!

I’d like to think BMX appeals to people that want to challenge themselves in life. Always looking to do better, not people that need an easy win to feel better about themselves. That’s why I never understood people that wanted to be #1 novice. #1 novice? That’s an oxymoron. The fastest novice doesn’t become #1. He moves up to expert. When I started racing I had my eyes set on expert. I wanted that so bad and I wanted to EARN it according to rules.

But perhaps I shouldn’t praise myself so much. Perhaps the only reason I wanted that was because I joined a sanction that gave you no choice. There was every incentive to become expert and no incentive to stay down. What would have happened if my local track had been NBL? Would I have strategized to be the #1 rookie? Would I have short changed myself and be satisfied with an easy win?

Well the point is moot because my local track was ABA so that’s all I knew. All I can say is I was lucky I had no choice but to shoot for the top and I believe it has made me a better person. That’s why I believe the ABA’s system not only makes better BMXers, it makes better people.

Enough preaching. Phil Delizia, Tim Sullivan, Stosh Dawejko, and Brett Snyder have all just turned pro. That means we can have a genuine PRO class at the state qualifiers next year. Hell, I’m still delusional enough to think I can do at 36 what I could at 18 so I’ll race it too. I’ll contribute to the Delizia Foundation. 🙂 Add Mabin and that makes six local pros.

Do you think seeing a pro class would give the older kids a reason to stay with it? What does everyone think?

That is so funny the way the announcer suggests 35 year old guys should be in hospice care and not on a BMX bike. And the guy that won did a one footed start! Back in the day, older guys were pretty bad because they didn’t grow up racing BMX and never had the skill. Now there’s guys over 35 with infinitely more skill because they had it when they were young. As bad as their bike handling skill was they were cranking all the way to the line so they had some lungs.

By the way that announcer needed to RELAX. He was awful. He couldn’t even get the easy names right. Isn’t that right, Mr Fireside? 😆
I’ll bet that announcer hated covering stupid BMX races and would rather have been covering baseball or football but he couldn’t get a job with a major network. All he could get was a gig with this stupid new startup called ESPN. 😆

I almost did a Richie Rich and quit BMX to hit the road full time but the competition is good to keep you motivated and young and I’ve got so much time invested in this BMX crap that I’ll stay with it until my shoulders say, “no more”.

My goal for 2007 is the little honey down the street. I’m training already:
Monday: Did three sets of ten pick up lines on the girl in accounting. Felt tired going into the third set so that wasn’t as good.
Tuesday: Quick recovery email followed by stretching and flexing in front of her desk.

OK, I’ll apply for the job of editor of BT but it’s gonna look awfully funny seeing ABA race reports in the NBL’s paper.
