dan just finished the orange one ( the one jeffrey rode) it is good to go if so moene needs one you can have it.(my favorite one)

the other one he is riding now ( until he gets one to replace it) he just put that together but he needs one with bigger cranks. he was going to look in sc tomorrow if its not rained out.

def one can go possibly two. he will check with gary to see if he wants his parts back( it was put together night before vet day race) if not you can have the other one too…

pit bike races def a sucess…

of course getting superintendants approval is first on the list… if anyone in your town has connections there it is a help…

also what about getting a “scholastic connection”..if you are going to promote their new book you can see about using their name…such as “njbmx and scholastic books will be presenting…….yada yada yada… maybe even get them to donate a bunch of books???

hmmmm have to think about this one…

ant like what would you like to see??

here are some ideas… see what you think…

a short video ( history of bmx/ current bmx highlighting nj??) showing kids of a certain target age( like the ages the book is geared for)…plus showing older and younger riders, moms and dads racing too….(family aspect)

flyers to give out( track info) maybe a free race coupon or two? stickers?

a few racers old and young to speak to the school kids…..who would tell how they got started/ how they race now/ …who would be available for questions and answers afterwards…

info on the initiation of bmx into the 08 olympics and the 2010 youth olympic games…..

some big a** trophies of course.. to show off…lol

maybe have a local pro to sign some books…..

any other ideas to add??? how long would it be? when would it occur during what class? would it be during the day like during a health class or gym class?? or after school???

can someone post the time of the state meeting on dec 9th? i know the awards ceremony starts at 10, then i read somewhere the riders are free to ride the skatepark and the food will be served ( assuming at the same time) then the meeting will happen after that?

there is a good chance i may not be able to come early- only for the meeting so i would like to know how early i have to leave so as not to miss the meeting. i know a few others who are coming to the meeting and not the awards ceremony would appreiciate the timely post. my other question is does the meeting go on as the kids are riding in the park( this is what i thought) as if they wait till the riding is done for the meeting then what do the parents do with thier kids if they want to go to the meeting? would prob encourage more attending if its during the park riding?? just a thought…

    thanks

well being he was the only “older guy” also he didnt want to take the win away from the younger guys. he just likes racing witht hat thing for some reason …he and gary built it the night before as his last one cranks broke. i think he enjoys racing that as much as the reg bike…haha… somehow finding junk and making it “usable’ seems to get him fired up…lol

yes having a little more time betw would help… believe it or not its more work racing pit bike than the reg bikes..think about how many revolutions your legs have to go to make it the same distance? he is goiing to retire his other pit bikes ( maybe raffle them off for the little guys at a race)since they ar too small for him an dhe wants to build another one…haha maybe a k mart/garage sale special with a little stronger cranks….lol i think he will bring them to howell to see if any little guys need one…

when we first started at flemington they used to let the little bros and sisters of the racers ( most didnt have thier training wheels off yet) they did the big wheel races first moto down the starting hill only to a line at the end. it was really cool…

the pit bike races are REALLY taking off. the kids love it ( and some older riders too…lol)

im sure they can squeeze in one more moto and having a series would be great.. they were supposed to have one at flemington this season but they cancelled most of them on hot days or for whatever other reasons…

i say let the pit bikers ride!! its letting them be creative and it dosnt cost an arm and a leg to get one either… just a little time browsing garage sales …

seems like next yr will be the year of the series..(if all goes well) if they continue with the pro am open, then the young guns open now the pit bike series… gives the riders a chance to put some spark back into racing…
