I am in Brett. Shoot me an e mail and I will get back to you ASAP. I will call Carolan as well. The race J Morgan ran was a great concept a few years back but I remember there was a struggle trying to get that done. Heck with getting approval from the other sanctions. I know most of the people in place at both sanctions. you have a better chance of negotiating with the squirrel in the back of your house.. You guys have the right idea start it slow and pick up the pace. I am tight with Jerry at BMXMANIA. You guys compose something and i will talk to Jerry to help get an acurate count of what the RIDERS THINK.. I think we all know the sanctions wont budge. They think they have it figured out and honestly some of them probably have good ideas and or intentions. BMX needs to continue to evolve. We have a perfect opportunity to ride the last big wave with the introduction of BMX to the Olympics. If we miss this set it will probably be some time till the next set comes along..

You know I just checked out your BMXL site. I have to say this is a great concept. You are right it could work but it needs one person to or shall i say one or two tracks to take the leep and then make it succeed and start global domination one step at a time. With the right people in place this could work. It really could. i think one of the posts put it right its just going to take one track and build from there. The kids that grew up racing BMX that stuck around and the ones that returned because they missed the passion all are in positions to help make this work. its going to take a united front to make this come together. You need anything at all you contact me i know alot of people that could help make this thing work from both inside the industry as well as outside. A few good corporate sponsors could make the other organizations really take another look at this. With the propper media exposure and other such plans in place could really put BMX in the position it needs to be in.. Especially with the Olympics coming. You shoud see what the other countries are doing for they’re teams… You know what I am saying. you need anything you let me know..

Brett.. the concept is a great one and as with you and many before you have brought up the valid points that are pure facts. Without unity that will never happen and without certain people sticking there heads out there saying HEY. This never will change. Its a shame that BMX is going to extinguish itself. Its funny how after all these years that BMX is an Olympic sport and we are doing nothing to ride that wave. Race count locally is down and instead of making the sport look cool on a National and local basis they are making it look like a joke. Many volunteers now and prior have done alot to do what they can to help grow the sport but ts just a shame that the organiztions couldn’t work together and PUT BMX back on the map.. Both organizations need to get the right people in place and once those people are in place the need to surround themselves with more right people and all have one thing in mind Making BMX what it was and needs to be…

MAcdaddy… Great answer and point. Gold Cup East in OHIO. THATS EAST.. I look at MAps all day long. Thats MID WEST!

Your answer from the gold cup proves my point. ABA back EAST won’t work or shall I say PROBABLy won’t work. Its all about the sanction power. Hayden we all know your realtionship with the ABA. No doubt you would be tickled pink if “it” meaning the state would go ABA. Rules are different. They’re whole way of doing things is different. They have some good points and bad as they both do. Bottom line.. BAsic FAct. The kids and competitors of this sport will get alot more out of BMX back here as a NBL rider. Will everyone agree. heck sometimes I don’t agree but it is the way it is. Some of the Stronger riders building thru the ranks will engage in the ABA going out west and what not. It would take alot to get the ABA build up back east.. In fact the NBL woould not allow it. The US is split and half and has been for along long time. ABA out west and NBL back East and a little mixture in the middle. A new sanction would be the answer. Someone who knew how to put the propper people in place and take constructive points form all would burry both sanctions. Its odd because we all grew up racing it and all of us now are adults. I have to say I am surprised no one has done it yet. BMX could be a very profitable venue if it were run like a business.

The best of luck to you all and I know we all have one thing in common whats best for the riders both young and old..

    B-

While I haven’t been involved much in BMX over the last year or so due to work and Family obligations. I love BMX and I always will.. My son is starting now and I want it to be good for him in the future. BMX did alot for me and I wish the same for all riders and families out there.

You say well then what do you know. I do know I have been racing for over 26 years current and I love BMX and what you and the people (Volunteers/ Mothers and Fathers) are doing is AWESOME.. I Hope you could promote BMX to Where it should be… On that note.. I would like to just voice a few things..

I do know this and take my comments whichever way you may want. After reading your posting it got me to thinking about what you said. While you have been back for a year plus now and running what i think is a terrific forum for all people to speak there own minds.. The “twisting nuts” format could very well blow up in the states face and those that have been around for over the years do know that. The ABA is and has been after this state for a long time now due to the power it holds on the North East corridor and what it could do for THE ABA back East. Yes the ABA has opened some tracks back here over the years but none made it. Thats why an established name track Like LES’S or Cranmer’s/Vinnie’s or FLEMINGTON would be a huge draw for them. But trust me when I say this. THE ABA promises the world. BUt they don’t deliver… I know Bill Curtin personally and he is a good guy but his motives since the NBL screwed him is to turn all the tracks ABA. I mean look what he did to MASS a NBL state and he played the same game with the NBL. Did not work and then he tried to do it with CT didn’t work..

The Volunteers in this state…. Les (who knows what I am saying I am sure) Vinnie who runs a great program and I don’t know who is running flemington these days Danek I think.. They all work hard and do the best they can with the support they get from the NBL.. If ANY. Brett I know what you are saying but BE CAREFUL..

Sometimes when you play you get burned and you know that. We are in a position of power but it doesn’t always end the way we want it..

The ABA is hungry and they say all sorts of things. We will come build you an awesome track we will give you nationals we will do this and that. then get 1/2 if any of what they promise. Look to build a national program around the ABA back east isn’t practical. All the big nationals are out west and to be honest many of the other states aren’t going ABA. So Racing nationals for someone starting out would be tuff. National ABA moto count back east is small. You know what I am saying. Use the Carrott but don’t go too far. I know this state has many ABA promoters. ( Crazy Craig, Caveman ect)… To compete at THE ABA”S Big nationals you are flying to CA or AZ. Bottom line and to have a kid getting psyched to go to an ABA national in Kingston NY and seeing 75 motos and all wouldn’t work in My opinion. Go check out a ABA east Coast national and let me know what you think compared to a woodbridge VA NBL national.. Thats all I am saying. Your Idea is good and you are right we are not married to the NBL but going ABA to jam it in Bob’s face isn’t the answer and I have no clue if thats what you are saying but the ABA isn’t the BE all end all. Both sanctions need work and the NBL does need to help NJ more… I agree..

I agree about us turning the NBL around. Good idea and they should bring EHT staff for nationals ESPECIALLY FOR LES. I mean the guy has run regionals for all these years and NATIONALS. HE has a huge draw at his track when the races come there. Imagine if they gave him a better time of year for the national. HELLO.

In the end I do agree. Bob Flakes and he complains and you have to beg to get anything done with him. Backing him into a corner won’t work in my opinion.. I know him I have worked with him. MAybe you and the new era of people involved can get it to work. I am all for helping out however I can.. Contact me I have some more to say on this but I would be writing forever..

    Good Luck.

Also to all that attended the NBL grands.. Congrats to you the riders and the families for a great job.

    Craig time to turn EXpert…..

Farside you are an animal.. Crazy .. I am glad you ended up safe..

    Cave-man keep it straight..

You are all correct this is a great Idea and we in NJ should JUMP all over this for next season. Anyone need any info on that series let me know I know one of the gentleman very well that put the whole series together… Whoever needs to get involved with setting this up should. As Rich said below and as others in this forum have said with adding a series like this could only do alot for the riders.. Alot to the sport as far as promotion and a huge draw to the Garden State.

Bottom line it all goes down to what I always say the NBL is what it is.. ……..
They’re is way more behind this than any of us know or will ever find out.. Farside you are the man and you should go to BRAZIL and win this title. They should have your paperwork set (the NBL) that can’t be fooled with. Now your airline ticket is another story. I don’t know enough to start blasting off but if you need any help with anything look me up and I will be more than sure to hellp you out any way I can.

Its like we are all in High School again with the games.. Locally … Nationally Regionally… Man whats next… I don’t know enough so I can’t say much other than I hope it works out for you Farside………

From what I understand that it will be the same as always with top 16 elegiable. It has not been determined 100% for 07 but The ABA will be also allowed to qualify some riders. The Class Structure will remain the same next year.

LeadSled1- I love you calling the other riders chumps. I have to say thats humerous….

Brett its still one lap no Crap in a sense with just the normal evolution added to it.. Then again you could have a 23 weekend race series and the person that goes to the nationals in India and perfects could get the title… Consistency come on now… You should know better…

I have to agree with alot that is being said in this forum. Bottom line is we ALL need to listen to one another for this to work. If not then getting new riders and promoting wont work. This is going to be an uphill process in this sport and I think we all know it. BMX missed the first shot at becoming a globally recognized sport let us learn from the first two go arounds (the Road to Glory and the X GAmes) to not make the same mistakes. The sport needs to evolve and be allowed to grow. Accept new ideas from anyone and talk about it and take the good ideas and run with it. Bottom line BMX is cool…. People accept that and understand that but at this point we need to make this sport EVEN COOLER. Come on how psyched do you think a 13 year old or 25 year old or a 10 year old girl or whatever would be if we had a podium for the top three to stand on at the major races. Come on you don’t think word would travel to one anothers friends. I was one of the first people in the NBL to suggest the Holeshot award to Bob and the regional directors and look how that took off. I got the idea from supercross… It all starts with an idea and with this new group forming to work together hopefully we can get BMX back on track to be where it needs to be…..

Crazy Craig. Love for the old Schooler and to anyone in the class whether you are in front or you are in back or as crazy craig says “Rear View” props for being out there having fun. The class is deep and if Carolan was in there as well it would have been even harder. B Romer was hurt and Farside wasn’t there so. Think get us all together and this class might be one of the best in the state.. So Sheleve the “rear view” craiger.

    keep riding and having fun!!!

    Hayden,

Be careful who you call the Squidly squadron! LOL…. OH and some people take that the wrong way for the record LOTS OF LAUGHS…. It was a main event I will say that. Caveman needs to put those clips back on. He could of took Myself, F Young and himself out over the STEP.. KIDDING CAVEMAN. It was fun and could you say B Romer with the FULL ON SNAP. Could tell he hangs with RC CAROLAN with a start like that. Nice ride Brian even if you are injured.. It was nice seeing some of the old school riders back.
