that’s what I was thinking of when Dave said that…
    every friday and sunday baby…
    can HC do friday nights?
I mean we could make it just a “open spectacular” with some cool stuff to bring in newbs..
maybe an hour of 2.00 practice, bring your kid, talk to the top guys and watch them get busy.

No, the lights there now at least can’t handle that, I think Jeff said that there were better lights somewhere, but don’t qoute me.

yes make a pro race… no experts.. pro only.. big bucks will make the kids race more and want to move up..not for just the love of bmx.. but able to make money doing it.. every kids dream can be a reality

you have to have ams in the open. i dont think local experts will go pro just to run that series. maybe i misunderstood something? what is wrong with having ams in the opens? you cut them out then you will really have a problem and lose them completely. there is not a prob with experts moving up its everyone else…

I thinnk, with some of them the idea is to create a seperate, and thriving Pro class for the kids to look up to!!! I thought the ams would be in too! But not a bad idea.

baby steps— after it grows into it’s own monster — then we could have a pro only series— but at this point excluding top experts would be like coffe w/ no sugar, good , but missing a key element

you only have what 3-4 local pros anyway? and like i said if you take away the pro/am races and you shut out the older experts they will find another place to race. i know for one we will be traveling to ct to do their series if nj does that. you have to try to keep them in it not exclude them. all i heard for 2 yrs is ” I cant wait to turn 16 to race those guys” thats what makes them faster chasing down the likes of phil etc… not mixing them with novices racing class only.

not to offend anyone but look at it thru the eyes of a 16-18 yr old…do you think that the 2 jimmy m’s, danny, vinny, and the rest of the up and comming kids will turn pro just to race the open in a state/ local race? i highly doubt it. i see the new pros who went pro a little prematurely not even making it out of motos at a national. not to dis anyone but that was their decision. are there riders who needed to turn up ? sure. should most of them that went up to pro at woodward have stayed am? i think they are the ones who can answer that question. i dont think they should have. but thats just my opinion.

i dont care, it dosnt matter to me, i will take my son to wherever he wants to race if that be out of state to get competition so be it. we have already had this conversation this past summer. nj needs to build up their program not exclude riders or discourage them. i agree with brett. when we start seeing 3-4 racks of pro/am like ct does at torrington on a sunday then start splitting the class if you like. untill then building it up is the only way.

Some of us are trying to do this but keep getting shot down. Or you get “you should make a committeeâ€ÂÂ￾ then your committee will talk to my committee and bring it back up at the next state meeting. BS What happened to if they can do it why cant we? It is stuff like this that makes me think that I will just concentrate on racing for 07.

I think it’s time to revisit that BMX must evolve thread and start to take action.

i think the open series(warrier) started with a dad in ct who just took the bull by the horns and ran with it. i am not sure of the particulars but i think janeen has the details on that.

i cant see any problems with this at all. you are just taking a normally occurring race ( 16 over open) and making it into a series for those who want to participate. if you dont want to do the series then you are just there for the day. plain and simple. we went up there for a couple “just for the day” to try it out and it was awesome. like i said i cant see a problem with attracting 25 or more riders (in or out of state)to nj tracks for a money open .

is this item on the ajenda for the next meeting?

All we need to make it happen is:
    1) when the state schedule is set; to know which qualifiers will run the “Warrior Opens”
    2) when the tracks set their schedules; which Saturday or Sunday will be designated as their “Warrior Open” day.

    And most importantly we need

    1) A person who will commit to being the Rule Maker, Pay-Out Getter, Go To Person for all questions concerning… Basically the Head Warrior.

    3 steps and it’s a go.

um…if we call this “warrior” anything it may have a tough time getting participants…lol…

I spoke to Rich about it in September. Asked if he would be interested in organizing it. He said yes. I hope that is a good enough answer.
