Yeah one of the things BMXL was hoping to do was bring back Dirt turns and decision makers. Keep the track safe and sane but add one or why not two, expert/pro sections.
Maybe have a donor list of everyone that raced can pay a donor fee of $5. This shows they support the NJ Hall of Fame and get listed as “NJ Hall of Fame Member”. Others that dont qualify would have to pay a donor fee of say $20 but then get their name listed as a “NJ Hall of Fame Donor”.
Or we could have a seperate category for anyone that ran a BMX track.
So categories would be:
Racers
Freestylers
Industry
Track Operators
Media
Members
Donors
Initially say 50 persons could be included, then do a induction every year of 1 per category. The Original 50 as they would be known could come from any of the categories so racers could have say 23, freestylers 8, etc.
Members and Donors dont get inducted but do get listed so they wouldnt count toward induction numbers.
Donors could be business that want to show their company supports youth sports. Large donors could have awards named after them, or a wing of the hall if it ever expands that big.
Example John P. Poindexter was really into BMX. He raced for 3 years but never made a name for himself. Now he is amped to see BMX in the Olympics and a NJ BMX Hall of Fame. Being a racer and now successful businessman he goes, ‘I’ll donate.’
Hands over a check for $5,000 to the NJ BMX Associaiton that runs the Hall and helps BMX tracks, BMX Parks etc.
They name the Trophy handed to the inducted racer each year the Poindexter Award. He is amped his name is forever attached with the sport he loved. He gets to hand out the award and network for his business at the event and just relive old times and talk BMX instead of work.
