Injured rider Needs help from the BMX Family!
As you may know, Chris Hubel was the kid who was airlifted out of South Park on July 1st.
He is Recovering well, but has to remain in Pittsburgh for at least 2 more weeks.
His injuries include: his back with 2 crushed vertebrae and a jaw that was broken in 2 places.
His insurance was declined.
His mother is staying in a “family house†a few miles from the hospital.
This family really needs the BMX community’s help.
EHTBMX held a 50-50 drawing tonight with the 50% going to the winner and the other 50% going to Chris (above). The track is also matching the proceeds, and is throwing in all the “tip” money from concession.July 19, 2006 at 11:38 am #32565bmxmom156Memberjaneen why did his insurance decline to pay? can you elaborate or have you heard of this before? just curious

Thanks for posting this. I made it sticky so it’ll stay at the top.
Now about the insurance…maybe we could go into the General B.S. section and have a nice bitch session on how insurance companies are raking us over the coals….Anyone else care to get in on this topic over there?August 9, 2006 at 4:11 am #32904CrazyCooterMemberDoes anyone have an update on this rider and how he’s doing?

The latest Chris Hubel news: He is now home, back in michigan. He has to go to Physical, occupational and speach therapy 6 days a week. They are expecting a full (meaning normal, probably not racing) recovery. It will be a couple of months before he can go without his turtle shell. The Ti plates will stay in his jaw, but I’m not sure about the 2 rods and all of the screws in his back. His mouth is still wired shut for a couple more weeks. No word on all of the insurance issues, but not my personal bussines anyway. Even if insurances kicked in, a 2 percent copay comes out to more than most of our houses! We (j & C Racing) are still happily accepting PayPal donations toward the bills that are piling up.http://www.jandcracing.com Thanks to everyone for all of your support and kind words. John Glannan

I would like to pass a link to Patmos Park. You would need to contaact probably Guy. Although they are not open yet, they have held Demos as fund raisers and may consider doing it to raise money for this young man and his family. I know the “locals” would love to be apart of helping out.
