What would you do ?
If all you had was a plot of land that was given to you and was told have at it.
What would you add, not add.More trees for shade in the summer ?
a section just for the little ones where they can be corralled so the parents don’t have to run in three different directions at once and not enjoy themselves ?
im looking for out of the box type thinking.
January 16, 2008 at 1:39 am #55411RaidenHaydenMemberThe section for the little ones, Cedar does, good idea.
Trees, are awesome for shade, just not in the middle of the track for looks, the ones we planted years ago at Cedar grew to be too big, and I remember having to take them down
Just neat and clean with an emphasis on fun!!!January 16, 2008 at 1:51 am #55417loudogg666Membersome type of flatland area in the middle.

January 16, 2008 at 3:52 am #55434TenaciousDMemberIm thinking a starting hill twice the height then anything in the state now.
im thinking the 1st part of the 1st straight go a good 6 feet below ground level (gotta think about drainage) with bleachers on both sides of the track at that location to coming up out to a huge step up that can launch you into something…not sure what yet.
but also designed so that little rockets can get through it also.
January 16, 2008 at 4:18 am #554354130forlifeMemberwe dont need a huge starting hill.. just jumps that MUST be jumped.. enough of this roller crap.. no more soil tac.. more dirt turns..bmx is to much like road racing.. clips. smooth tires..its gay
lets get the motoX back in BMX
January 16, 2008 at 6:27 am #55436bigdaddyrgMemberif you make it so you have to jump. what about the kids that cant jump. 😯 😯 .if you dont get the small ones in to it the sport will die……

I’ll have a big cup of sarcasm Bob, with a side order of “does anyone get it?”
January 16, 2008 at 11:09 am #55438bmiddaughMember- 1. Trees around the staging area for shade.
2. A decent lighting system for night racing and practice.
3. On the same poles a decent PA system or one like the state uses which cost approx. $1,700.
4. A dual drop gate aba and nbl style for practice purposes.
5. A concession stand for putting money into the track, much like CJ does.
6. Get Glen Knapper to help show you how to soiltac the track, obviously he has it down to a science.
7. A beginner to intermediate level style track because that is a local tracks rider base and will help to grow your LOCAL PROGRAM.
8. A small area off the side with some jumps to let the riders have something to warm up on, a little jumpy flow section.
9. An announcer tower where you can see the whole track. Most important of all though and this is the toughest one…volunteers who put BMX first, their egos second and truly understand all aspects of the sport.
Piece of cake.
January 16, 2008 at 11:46 am #55440BIGANT-DOGMemberanother idea if possible put it in an area where there are retail outlets close by. if you get the local businesses involved it can only help and it really helps if the parents and racers are shopping at their stores.
January 16, 2008 at 1:57 pm #55441TenaciousDMemberWhat can i say…id like to do something just a little more then anything else thats out there, stand out just a little bit…something that makes people look twice and want to come check the place out.
No, a huge starting hill is not “needed” but i posed the question if you could do anything you wanted.. 😆Ant make s a good point, stick it where people can actually SEE the damn thing…like, um i don’t know…like maybe right next to a minor league baseball stadium….
