Ed,
Here is a link to a quick tutorial that was on Vintage. It is pretty easy to post photos on here. Check it:

Good Luck!

paulcMemberEd,
Set up a free account at Photobucket.
Pretty easy to do. Once you have this set up, you upload your pics to it and then it is pretty much copy and paste here.
Good Luck

paulcMemberDave,
Those trails look great. I am planing on making some in the spring. What is the average height of the jumps and distance between them? Thanks
Paul
paulcMemberEd,
I am pretty sure he made forks as well. I remember the decal being a stick figure going down each fork leg and saying Mr. Stix horizontally at the bottom of each leg. Anyone else remember this? Can’t wait to see your pics. Here is pic of a race at CJBMX that I copied form Vintage. I think #10 is my friend Joe Baldwin riding his Mr Stix Wedge frame and fork. Next to him I beleive is Larry Fate riding for Guys Bicycles out of PA.
Edited to add picture

paulcMemberEd,
That Mr Stix Wedge frame is worth a good penny. I know a guy on Vintage who was originally form NJ who has been searching for one for a very long time. Three of my friends rode those frame and forks. They used them for racing and freestyling. They all rode for Charlie’s BMX team out of PA. Charlie and the Mr Styx guy, assume it was Bill Scruggs, were friendly back in the day. I would love to see some pictures? Could you post some? I also remember doing a freestyle show in PA with Mr Styx and his two riders, a hot young girl and a dude that had “eggy” on his jesey and pants. Anybody know who they were?

paulcMemberBrett,
They are called pole buildings or pole barns. They are big out here in Lancsater County, PA. I think they are pretty salty as well.

paulcMemberI have no pics but checked out the track. The 1st straight tabletop has been turned into a step up. Out of the first turn there used to be 2 woops/rollers, now it is has been filled in between them. All I can remember.
paulcMemberCraig,
I tried to send you a PM but it just goes into the outbox? Anyways, I am intersted in a few items. Could you send me an E-mail so I could reply back. Thanks
Paul
paulcMemberSounds like Rich Carolan is a great guy! I remember last year when he wanted to donate +/- 5G’s to a HCBMX track rebuild and they did not want it? I never really understood why this happened. Now, a year later and Rich is still trying to help out. Way to go Rich!
paulcMemberGlenn,
Glad to hear this happened! Best of luck this year. Hope to be out at Trilogy this Spring.

paulcMemberI too checked the track out on Friday when visiting the in-laws. I thought the track looked good. My first thought was someone is going to slide out as soon as they hit the first turn. I did not quite understsnd all the loose stones/asphalt on the turns. You could barley walk up the bank on the first turn without slipping. I assume these stones will be broomed off prior to the season opener. Someone/kids could really get hurt out with the track in that condition. I never saw asphalt paving turn out like that. I do like the work that was done.
paulcMemberIt is both a winter thing and a temperature thing. In PA, the asphalt plants usually shut down shortly after Thanksgiving, not sure about NJ. In PA usually 40 degrees on and rising for placing asphalt. If it is mild out, then you should be OK. The other thing to consider is settlement of the soil in the newly placed turns over the winter. You may end up with cracked/broken asphalt. If this has all been done in the past in the winter as Janeen says then it is probably not a big deal.
paulcMemberAsphalt placement in December? Just a thought, but you might get better results if you placed it in the spring. If it is cold out, it will cool very quickly as you are placing it in a thin lift etc.
