i dont know about the faster part, but when it grows in the itching will certainly be a distraction on the gate so forget it.

neither rain nor wind nor sleet nor monsoon….oh what the heck

you know flemington- it takes a little more than rain to stop that race. the surface is quarrydust which is highly pervious-(did i say that right?) and after 2 weeks of no racing im sure folks are chompin at the bit!

dont quote me now but i would think that the track held up just fine. if you get there early just in case and lend a hand im sure the track will be in great shape!!

check the track phone or this site to be sure

its funny how everyone says it was a small race( total numbers small) but my sons class had 32 riders ( 1/4’s) and on day 2 his 1/4 could have easily been the grands main for this yr… maybe the question to ask is what classes were not represented there and why… were the rookie or nov classes down or was it the experts?? is it consistant with the rest of the national attendance ( which is also way down)

someone who is good with stats can easily figure this out( not me, sorry)maybe compare it to the rockford aba race and see what classes were not represented well.

dont know what the answer is but i know the discussion of removing the rookies from the grands will never go anywhere ( sorry) yes that discussion wont even happen w/bobt as there is just too much money to be made going for that #50 rookie plate( sorry not meant to offend anyone) i know when we started doing nats when dan was a novice there were no rookie plates at the grands. in fact i believe the following year they started giving novice plates up to 10(correct me please if i am wrong… maybe my memory is shot??) you can ask jimmy mulhern as i think one of his boys got screwed out of a plate that year they said top 20 then changed their minds to top 10 at the last minute… contoversy big time w/many a parent freiking out…..(heres your number but sorry…no plate, kid)

i am really confused as to what you all are really trying to do? dont waste your energy on a losing battle… try to change what you can- so you dont lose your passion for the sport in the process.( ie banging your head against a brick wall)

    just my 2cents

a lesson in humility is needed by all!! kmart bikes? my sons was a ralleigh( did i spell that right) that weighed about 30 lbs then some blue wallmart special that was so big(even at 16″) that my husb had to cut the seatpost so the seat actually sat on top of the ttube… it was a handmedown special that he loved and raced on for about 6 mos… i think his cousin still has that bike..haha then dale hooked us up with a handmedown min frame that rocked!(noname) and keith( anyone remember him?? tnt/ oneal/daughter amy rode a haro) got us some wheels…so everyone has to start from somewhere..i just dont get how these kids (rookies)can come off with starting out on $1500 bikes… whoa…did i start another topic? sorry

no prob…im just happy we got out alive with only 1 minor injury crash!!

anyone that has been around bmx awhile knows the hx of picture taking in the sport….we have been thru the izor phase(till it got totally rediculous price wise) and the other guy in 2001 at the worlds( who used to take a million shots and most with cut off heads for twice the price..haha) but thru it all morgans pics have been a constant… now you just have a better/faster way of viewing them if you dont get to see his book

just thought i would put it out there for the parents if they were interested.

personally i cannot take pics/ videotape and watch racing at the same time… and besides when i have tried( do any of you even have kids that race??) i always seem to get the kid behind my son…. haha i am digitally challenged… so having someone that takes good pics ( without the heads cut off) is a plus in my book….

i thought it was nice for folks from nj to see their kids at a national race( yea we always get to see the pros pics posted at other sites but never the grass roots riders) plus for those who didnt get to go you can check out the track.

like the song says…take what you need and leave the rest

agree agree agree… build it special for the grands no home advantage…even the christmas classic pres cup track is open to ohio racers ( or anyone who will foot the gas and drive there) the week before for an ohio state qualifier race….

people have been complaining for years… one year at the grands a kid who won my sons class made a “comeback” after not racing in a yr and they made a big announcement about it at the grands…. they didnt mention at all that he had come back and rode on it for the previous 2 months every day….. anyone can get it dialed in in that amount of time…
