( for 16 over open)i like the 15 under open series as well… gives kids a chance to see what they can do against the older riders.. like the action yesterday at howell- imagine a 10 yr old passing a 15 yr old?? if that isnt incentive for the younger guys i dont know what is…haha

i know you have tons of ideas that will come to be next yr- thanks brett for all the hard work you put in to the state series as well.

yea its got to be a hard decision…its no like it used to be when riders went to every track chasing points and everyone knew them…

how bout if each track has a rider of the month/ or week based on the criteria( sportsmanship, moving up a class, helping other riders, etc) then at the end of the season all these riders were put in a pool and the riders who race the championship voted for a rider of the yr from this list? i think someone organized this several yrs ago…

or each track can nominate a rider for the rider of the yr from their own rider of the week/month list( so there would ultimately be 3 to choose from ) then all the riders who race the championship voted on 1 of the 3… this would give you a rider of the yr.

as for each track announcing when riders just move up i dont know how registration works exactly w/moveup points… but i would assume they are the first person to know who moved up then the kids sign up for a local…if there is a clipboard at registration for parents to add thier child to then whoever is announcing can just grab it when they do the announcements before the race starts. then brett/ whoever takes the pics would have the ongoing list of new “move ups” to acknowlege. you can even add any riders who had a bday since they would be racing a new group of riders as well… jsut a thought.

brett nice idea for the kids to get their pics up…. maybe do a “rider of the week/ month” or whatever… i know its late in the season but would be nice if each track did it. i know at torrington track they make a big deal out of it on a weekly basis…before each race starts rodger announces the rider of the week and i think many times its the kid who moves up to the next proficiency or a kid who demonstrates good sportsmanship not based on who is always out in front… we were there for 2 races this summer and both times ive seen these kids get standing ovations and they come up to the tower and get a “prize” whether its a set of grips or free race coupon…. they also announce the “new sign ups” at thier track( along with the total for the year i was blown away- its up to 90 something for 06) as a way to introduce the newbies to everyone… not a bad idea, huh?
you are the newly elected embassador to bmx im sure you could come up with something… these kids love to see thier picture on the web!!

when we did the “wrestler of the week” when danny was in the youth program the coaches would pic someone and he would get his picture up on the gym bulliten board and in the local deli( the owner was soo cool) we would change it weekly and the kid got a free hotdog and fries coupon… and the deli would get free props at all the matches as a thank you/ sponsor…..

these guys should get some sort of recognition at the state race maybe an announcement??. moving up so close to the finals is something to make note of ( esp in these times of sandbagging)

congrats again!! wish everyone would do the same… the older x classes are shrinking terribly and we need these newbies to be encouraged to move up when they are ready!!
