bmxmom156Memberwill you be at the state race this sat at eht? i may bring dan down it depends on whether the doc says he can race or not. if not i can mail it to you and you can go thru it and see what you want to use. its vhs like i said and you will have to edit all the screaming moms out…haha ( 5 and under rookie back then was a viscious class…haha)
April 17, 2006 at 1:14 am in reply to: Double Races at Egg Harbor Township BMX, NJ on April 15th. #30025bmxmom156Memberdid they have a money open at either of the races on sat at eht? what about flemington? i heard alot of out of towners have been coming down. thats great esp before the national!!
bmxmom156Memberits pretty funny that 11 yrs later the 6-7 yr olds are jumping and clearing tabletops that size… go figure!
bmxmom156Memberbrett-
i have the 1995 state championship race for the 5 and under rookie action!! back when cjbmx had flags going all around the staring hill and sponsors/ team posters decorated the track. this is back when they had a decision maker before the 3rd turn and the corner marshal used to have to put cones there to prevent anyone under 7 from going up the “big tabletop.what as big back then is considered a roller now…haha i cant remember the announcers name but he was the track director back then… anyone remember?
let me know if you need it- its on vhs though no digital back then…

bmxmom156Memberagree w/ craig on the local bike shop support… most parents would like to go the cheap route and order thru dans. the local shops cant afford to be competitive w/them anymore. bicycle world used to tell the racers to bring the dans ad in from bmx today with the items price on it and they would match that items price if you bought it from them ( it would end up being cheaper as no shipping was necessary) but that was the old days when carol owned the shop.
if you patronize a local shop for your biking needs you never know sometimes they will suprise you with the team support.( if you get enough team members to go in to buy from them) i know up north jersey its hard to find a shop that even knows what you are talking about as far as bmx race parts go. everything has to be special ordered if they dont get enough calling for it. back a few yrs ago cyclecraft/parsippany was very helpful when we started a state team and they were one of our parts sponsors and gave us a nice discount. they were very willing to advertise races and such but they didnt get much business from it. also bikeland in chatham sponsored our state team a few yrs later we gave them some national trophies as advertizing with some team pics they put up. but it takes more than 1-2 people using the shop. anyone can do this with their local bike shop but it takes some work and it is a 2 way street. they will help you out with discounts but word of mouth for them is all they ask, or maybe helping them out with bike safety day in your town, a mention in an article in the paper, etc. no one knows about bmx racing until you put it out there.
bmxmom156Memberthey will get used to it. not to worry- once they find a way over it you will hear its the best thing since sliced bread….. remember its still early in the season and everyone is stale skill wise so it gives them something to work on. nobody comes out in march and rides “smooth”.
bmxmom156Memberlooks nice. seems like the kids really like the new jumps. . i saw one of the little guys whos only 10 clear it!! you old farts should have no problem at all!!
bmxmom156Membercool//// just post simple directions for us non-techy folks to follow…. sounds like a great idea..
bmxmom156Memberwe’ll be there- crutches and all….
bmxmom156Memberwhen danny started back around 95 they had the dunkin donoughts ( sp?) team… that was awesome!! does anyone remember them??
i dont particularly care for profit vs non profit i just wish they would both get their act together and make one sanction so it would help the sport be legit/ mainstream… would def boost popularity if the numbers doubled and even get espn involved again. thats the only way to put it out there is to get it on tv….
bmxmom156Memberok maybe for you who think wearing a helmet is too “restrictive” should volunteer medic at a race or national and watch what happens to a rider when he hits his head and dosnt get up right away. whileyou are wiping the fluid coming out of his ears and nose( spinal fluid) and helping him into an ambulance you are trying to find out who he is(to contact a family member) as he cant remember his name…then you will think twice about wearing one. one day we were not even racing and jsut at a track for a meeting.. some older rider with plenty of experience was riding with a skateboard- type helmet and just nose cased a jump landing right on his forehead. of course it wasnt strapped on tight so it was virtually useless…. it was a few weeks before he could put two memories together about what happened. thats all it takes… aldo he was riding by himself…oh you will say i have my cell with me but if we werent there who was going to call for help for this guy?? he would have been lying there for god knows how long….style or coolness is not impt and should not come before safety… thats my lecture for today.
bmxmom156Memberthanks brett!!
bmxmom156MemberJeff-
